BEST ANSWER:Hi Seth - Apologies for my confusion, i'm not sure what is meant by 'new or old style sample valve'. The sample valve is 1.5 in Tri Clamp. To discuss this matter further, please contact us at info@moreflavor.com or give us a call.

I had always thought dropping hundreds of dollars on brewing equipment was never going to happen for me....then this bad boy came along. After saving my pennies for a few months I bought this an haven't looked back! I have also come to realize that the fermentation is the most important part of making good beer. So when I was between upgrading my brewstand or fermentation it was an obvious choice.
What is great about it: first off..it looks amazing. Next, the tri-clamp fittings make cleaning a breeze and hold an excellent seal. The cooling coil works so well, I hold about a 1.5 degree variance during even the most active fermentation in GA. I built my own cooling and heating set up to save some $$, but with this tank it works great...diacetyl rest is easy, cold crashing is easy..everything is easy in terms of temperature control. Sampling is a breeze with the valve, yeast dumping is a breeze. Yeast stuck during dump? no problem, throw a couple PSI on and push it right out. The ability to pressure transfer to the kegs is one of my favorite features (though you have to buy a few more parts). Overall, I feel my fermentation process is much more streamlined and clean. The only thing I haven't done is carbonate in the vessel. I do use the carbonation stone for pure oxygen aeration and it works very well.
What I did/do not like about the vessel: I think for a thousand dollars this thing should come cleaned and basically ready for a wash with some PBW and starsan. I had to spend about 4 hours hand cleaning the oils and nasties off from production with TSP cleaner. Was not super happy about that. It should already come with casters on the bottom. I don't know why they expect people to pay for those. I got mine on amazon for half the price. Fully filled, this vessel is very heavy...strongly recommend casters.
Overall very happy with the unitank and would get another if I had the money and was actually brewing enough to justify it. The beers I have made with this have all turned out excellent.
