Description

Ss BrewTech has done it again, taking brewing equipment to an innovative next level.  These are a premium lineup of feature rich all Stainless Steel Brew Kettles, designed to keep you brewing for a lifetime.

What really sets this boil kettle apart from the rest is the first ever integrated trub dam and pick-up tube assembly that Ss has designed into the back of the 304 Ss 1/2" ball valve (3pc).  It is a brilliant little piece which will help with a more efficient whirlpool, leaving more trub in the kettle, and bringing more wort to the fermenter!  Other features include robust triclad bottom, internal gallon markings, and strong riveted handles with molded silicone grips that can hang the lid.

Features:

  • Heavy duty 18 gauge 304 Stainless
  • 1.2 x 1.0 height to width ratio
  • Triclad bottom - no scorching!
  • Silicone handles for safe handling
  • Internal etched gallon markings (start at 3 gals!)
  • Thermometer port positioned at 7 gal level
  • Recirculation port (7/8") positioned at top of kettle
  • High Quality Weldless Fittings
  • Robust riveted handles for safety
  • Hang lid on side handles
  • Optional bimetal thermometer
  • Optional coupling for thermometer
  • Dimensions: 21.25" H x 17.7" W
  • 22.7 Gallons total volume

To upgrade my 5 gallon system

I have a 15 gallon boil kettle but needed the extra head space since most of my batches required 14.5 gallon starting boil volume. I like to have the extra space to help with boil over..

good features, tolerances need attention.
The punches in this kettle are somewhat oversize for what is needed. Not affecting the thermometer plug and the recirc plug much, but the ball valve does not seem to want to tighten up enough due to the rubber o-ring being squished out somewhat on one side of the valve, leaving the valve kind of insecure and flopping around a little more than I care for. I think the o-ring is not aligning on center due to the punch having a larger diameter than the 1/2" mpt on the nut used to secure the ball valve. More tightening would probably smash or cut the o-ring.

LOVE This Kettle
We have been brewing for 3 or 4 years. We used a mix of old equipment my dad used in the 80's and some cheep stuff we "upgraded" to a year ago. We were using a 10 gallon kettle (really just a big pot) that had no lid and no spigot. This kettle does it all. It boils quickly, works well up to 15-16 gallon batches (we have not tried 20 yet), the lid sits nicely on the side handle for an open boil and it looks AZAMING in our garage. Having the spigot to pump into the fermenters is really nice and saves a tons of sticky wart on the garage floor. SS Brew has there act together, everything I have tried from that company is amazing and ultimately makes brewing larger more complicated batches easier and quicker! Can't say enough good things about this and all of the SS products!
