Description

Another great invention coming out of Ss Brewtech, the Keg WaSsher! This is a hands free, clean in place keg washer that will make cleaning kegs one of the easiest steps of the brewing process. Gone are the days of disassembling your keg to clean it.

The cleaning process is pretty simple. Just take the keg lid off, attach the keg washer, attach both ball lock QDs, stick the whole thing upside down in a bucket full of sanitizer, turn on the pump and your keg is clean.

The Keg WaSsher is designed to fit in a standard 5 gallon bucket. It also only uses 2 gallons of cleaning solution resulting in less chemical waste and evironmental impact. If you want to get fancy, you can set up a wash station with 3 buckets to perform an initial cleaning, fresh water rinse, and sanitizer. All you have to do is lift the whole apparatus from one bucket to the next!

BEST ANSWER: I use PBW for 5 min, then water for 5 min, then StarSan for only ~a minute, and never had any problems.
Can the pump be removed and very hot water be run through the unit with a different pump, like a March, Chugger, or riptide to clean and sanitize like micro breweries?

BEST ANSWER: You can definitely remove the pump and could possible rig it up to any pump you would like. I have run this pump at 130+ without issue. I can say with great certainty that you dont want to run it at say, 180+ Tried it, killed it. Found an exact replacement pump much cheaper than what brewtech sells them for. My kegs are perfectly clean with hot water and PBW.
Is the cip ball removable? It would be nice to use it to clean fermenters as well.

BEST ANSWER: It is removable, but then you will have to mess around with adapting it to the other water source. I estimate that it's a 0.25-inch fitting. MoreBeer cells other CIP balls with a variety of interfaces that will likely do a better job than moving this one back and forth. I have one with a triclamp fitting that fits my 14-gallon fermentor perfectly. They are both huge time savers as you can walk away and do something else during each cleaning cycle.
Will this keg washer work with the 10 gallon torpedo keg if placed in a larger diameter bucket?

BEST ANSWER: Sure, It's just a matter of the opening of the keg and the gas and the liquid pegs - and a big enough bucket(s). I personally use 3 buckets for Corny kegs. One with 5 Star; one for a rinse; one for sanitizer.

BEST ANSWER: I would assume so...There is nothing that would prohibit this. The keg is cleaned upside down so the floating ball would rest just inside OR outside the keg. Just make sure the hose attached to the ball does not kink.
Does this work with carboys?

BEST ANSWER: Probably not too well. There are carboy cleaners designed specifically for carboys. This works well for kegs.
I usually use hot water and hot PBW solution. What is the maximum temperature the pump can handle?

Worked Great for a Very Short Time
I purchased two of these for a bar that does mainly draft cocktails. Every piece of silicone was ripped within a month. The couplers broke and needed to be replaced after 2 months, the silicone lines had to be replaced with vinyl tubing within 2 months, and the ac adapter/converter boxes weren't sealed well, allowing water into both. All of the equipment was used by properly trained employees and only used for standard corny keg cleaning. The high price point and minimal replacement parts availability is frustrating.

Labor saver!
A bit awkward to put onto a corny keg. Works great with 3 Lowes buckets (PBW, H20, SaniClean) to clean and sanitize kegs and growlers. I like the flow through keg poppets to clean those.

Best money spent!
I absolutely hate cleaning kegs! No more taking off ball locks, taking them apart, removing gas/liquid tubes, and scrubbing the keg. I just let it go in the ABW for 20 minutes, rinse for 20 minutes, and then sani clean for another 20 minutes. I can telework and clean kegs at the same time!

Works well
This makes cleaning and sanitizing kegs a breeze. I've been cycling through batches more quickly now that I don't have the chore-barrier of keg disassembly and cleaning in the way.

The only issue I've had is that the moving parts of the spray nozzle tend to work their way loose. I've twice pulled the keg out of the bucket and found the ball tip rolling around inside the keg. It's easy to screw back on, but get annoying.

Makes an unpleasant job kind of fun
Works great. Assembly video was for a slightly different design for blue cap, but you'll get the idea. Washing and sanitizing kegs in bulk now.
