Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Awsome brew!
This brew is definitely one of my favorite brews to keep on hand! A beer to make those cold Maine nights seem to drift away into oblivion! Highly recommended! Easy to brew, easy to drink, and easy to enjoy! The only negative is eventually the keg becomes empty! : (Write your review here. It must be at least 20 characters long. Some adjustment made
Hello, I bought this kit as a base for a Dirty Bastard clone. I added 3 lbs of DME to amp up the ABV. I am very pleased with the result. Nice color and a very sweet, malty finish. Good mouth feel. The short of it is, you could do much worse. If you're super into Scotch Ales this might fall a little short of expectation. But, if you're looking for a nice, easy brewing/easy drinking ale that is malty, this is a great way to start.

GREAT BREW!!!!!!
This kit was our 1st brew ever and was super easy. Followed the instructions and boy the final product amazed everyone!!! Went in the keg after 2 weeks in the carboy then forced carbonated and drank 2 days later. 5 gallon keg was gone in no time with everyone asking for more. We will definitely order this kit again soon.
Cheers

LOVE IT!
This is a great simple basic kit for those who like it malty. If you want something more hop forward, just add more hops of your choice. This is what I do. Start with 3 1/2 gal. to steep with. Follow instructions, take your time and slowly rinse the steeping grains with 1/2 gal 160 degree water and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the OG. Add the extract & hops and boil 4+ gal down to 3(I used Fermcap to keep it under control) and add 2 gal pre-boiled water at flame out. Chill as necessary. I used rehydrated US05 the first time and lag was 28hrs. This time I tried BRY97 and it started in 18hrs and soon required a blow off tube on the carboy. I don't keg, and I know it's hard to wait, but 3 weeks in the bottle and it's ready to share.
