To use clamps and spacers is very difficult. One needs to keep the stem pushed in a bit to remove the ring retainer! Especially after a new "o" ring is installed.

Do I need any other tools to fully disassemble an American Sanke keg for cleaning and sanitizing?

BEST ANSWER: Depends how low/high tech you are. Before I had this tool I was using a "C" clamp and spacers to push the ball down enough to release the ring. It was really difficult to get that ring out so I finally got the tool It is still difficult to get the ring out, but definitely easier than my jury-rigged effort. Once you get it out, you can pull out the entire stem apparatus and clean the inside. If you want a more automated way of cleaning, then you'd need a pressure washing rotating head to insert, and a stand to keep it upside down. But if you just want access to the inside, this is what you need.

Easy tool
This tool makes it easy and quick to get the pressure out of your Sanke kegs to clean them, simply twist and you will start to hear the pressure release. So easy and quick!

Failed almost immediately -- threads stripped
I struggled with this when I first bought it. Tried again a few months later and figured out why . . . one of the screws that hold the upper and lower clamps together via two rods stripped the female threads inside the rod. Thus unable to push the spear down enough.
