If 1 oz (29.57ml) treats 5 gallons then 1.5 ml would treat 32 oz. Why does the label say 2ml for the little bottle? It is a great little sprayer as I have one.
The dilution of 1 ounce to 5 gallons presumes you're using it for the full 2-minute contact in accordance with the instructions. The greater concentration for the spray bottle is to provide the same sanitizing effect in a shorter time (for example, giving a fitting a quick spray before attaching a hose, or treating the airlock bung before inserting it into a carboy).
Thanks for the reply. The instructions on my Star San say contact for one minute after immersion or spray. No different strength for a spray applications. Parts can be assembled wet and then let to air dry. This is why I have the question about the amount to add to the spray bottle.
I just now re-read the instructions on the spray bottle; it allows for the use of Iodophor, IO San, or Star San, all of which have different concentration ratios... so they are probably hedging their bets and erring on the side of too strong.
This little bottle is perfect. It makes mixing a small batch of sanitizer easy to mix. I usually waste a lot in bigger bottles since it's more than I need. Bought one for my son, too!
Spray bottle works great, but you guys gotta find a way to replace that label with something more permanent. One use and the liquid rubs off the label. Very messy, then very sticky for every use afterwords.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We will be sure to pass your suggestion along to our products and packaging teams for their consideration. We really appreciate the honesty and value great feedback like this as it helps us improve our products. Cheers!

Great tool! Works as advertised!
My first one worked great! Very happy! Used the hell out of it!
I left it outside in direct sunlight in my brew station, so it deteriorated to crumbs. Not knowing what direct desert sunlight would do to plastic, & plastic being what it is, I only have myself to blame. At this cost, I don't expect them to be made of titanium!
I am getting 2 more because these are handy to have around! Like fire extinguishers, when you need one, quick access is what I want! Well worth the investment! Could have lost a lot more in ingredient cost of a single brew had I not used one of these! Worth every penny!
Loved this:it's the perfect size to keep star san fresh. Mine broke after 10 months, but considering the cost and how much use I got out of it, it's worth the cost of replacement.
In order to get exact 1 ml measurements of star san into the bottle, pick up a medicine dropper for baby medicine from CVS. They're very handy!
Just a Spray Bottle, has made sanitizing so much easier
Got tired of making larger solutions for small jobs and having to figure out a way to get all the nooks and crannies sanitized. Lost the first one and got another right away.
I keep this full of Star San solution made with distilled water which I spray on everything during a brew session and use to lube/sanitize keg posts. It's big enough to last a while, but small enough so I don't keep mixed solution too long.
This is the perfect size for filling with a Star San solution and keeping around the brewery and the house. It holds just enough to make it through a brew day and not so much that you're worried getting through it before the Star San goes ineffective. I use a syringe to measure out the correct amount of Star San recommended for the bottle size.
The one downside is that the spray/stream adjustment can be hard to turn.
I bough this thing a few months back and it had a great misting action with it on the Spray function - then I switched it to Stream function and it has never been the same since... it just sorta spits now on Spray. Stream still works fine though.
I don't think there's anything special about the bottle other than it's a good cost. However, it doesn't spray well unless it's vertical and while trying to sanitize a variety of items I find I turn it slightly and it stops spraying. I think this is because of how small it is, so unless it's full it sucks in air, but it runs low super quick due to its size.
