Description

Fermentis Saflager S-189 is an ideal lager strain for many lager and pilsner beers.  It can ferment well within the temperature range of 48-72° F, but is ideally fermented between the tighter range of 53-59° F. Highly flocculant, this yeast falls out of suspension easy resulting in brilliantly clear beer. A great choice as a very tolerant strain that makes great lagers.

This is designed as a directly pitchable yeast and there are no rehydration instructions.

Some basic instructions for rehydrating yeasts: rehydrate yeast in 4 oz of warm water between 95 and 104F. Do not stir. Let stand for 15 minutes. Stir gently. Add an equal amount of wort to your solution. Cover, let sit for five minutes, and pitch.

Amazing dry lager yeast
I used this recently to brew a simcoe pale lager at 50 degrees and repitched into an 11% ABV Baltic porter at 55 degrees. Worked perfectly in both, resulting in a beautifully clean, crisp, lagers. Handled the high gravity (1.107 OG) easily and attenuated down to 1.020. Definitely would recommend to anyone.
