Safale US-05 American Ale Yeast - Fermentis

Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

Formally US-56, US-05 is a strain of yeast that creates that classic American profile of clean malt, crisp taste, low diacetyl, and ability to ferment in a wide range of temps. Look for US-05 to be the next popular dried yeast.

This yeast can be pitched directly, but if you prefer to rehydrate, the instructions are below.

Sprinkle the yeast in a minimum of 10 times its weight of sterile water or wort (we suggest 4 oz) at 70°F to 77°F (21 to 25 °C). Do not stir. Leave to rest 15 to 30 minutes. Gently stir for 30 minutes, and pitch the resultant cream into the fermentation vessel.

Old standby
US-05 is my old standby yeast for ales. A very neutral yeast that contributes very little taste to a brew.

Good ole US-05, it is churning away after less than 12 hours in the fermenter at room temp.

So easy to use
This was my first attempt at using activated dry yeast and I can't believe I waited so long. I attended a Fermentis webinar where the employees discussed their work and fielded many questions from homebrewers. I was pleased to learn so much about their work that I gave them a shot. In short, I think this is my new yeast. I simply followed the directions and dry pitched. Done! So easy and the results have been great. This product is an example of where you don't have to sacrifice quality and you save yourself so much time...I really like that.

Very good yeast. After the primary fermentation, I collected about two liters of yeast.

First time I have used this yeast... I ordered dry yeast this batch because I could not get locally the liquid strain I prefer... Covid-19 has impacted some ingredients as far as availability...
I went with this SafAle-US05 strain because I did not want to ship a liquid yeast with the summer heat we have this year...

I must say I am very impressed with the results so far! I rehydrated according to SafAle instructions... pitched as usual... it was slow to ramp up... activity within 12-24 hours but no real heavy fermentation until the 24-36 hour range... but once it started - it has been a steady work horse... on day 5 now and it is still a real steady activity... can’t wait to try the beer...
