Description

This kit is designed to work with one of the Root Beer extracts, SF40-SF80, to make 5 gallons of Rootbeer. Kit includes 3 lbs of honey, 2 lbs of sugar. This kit does not come with yeast as you will be kegging! Use with our KEG400 Homebrew Draft system to make and serve 5 gallons of Root Beer on draft.

This kit does not come with Root Beer extract, which must be purchased seperately.

Good beginner kit
This was a good starter kit if you’ve never made root beer. If you’re looking to explore other root beer styles this kit might not be for you. However, the process was straight forward and setup, plus directions, were easy. Big in my book, especially if you’re working with kids.

My kids and I weren’t big fans of the flavors though. The honey might have been too much?

very sweet
I have made a lot of keg root beer using the famous B3 recipe. This root beer was never overly sweet. It called for 3 lbs. of B3 honey which I believe is Orange Blossom Honey. The new recipe calls for 3 lbs. of Wildflower honey which may be a lot sweeter than the Orange Blossom honey. This root beer is very sweet. Also, it is taking a lot longer to carbonate because of the high sugar content.

Maybe their needs to be another kegging kit that uses the B3 honey or go back to using B3 honey???

Sweet
I made this a couple times in the keg and the first time it was super sweet so the next time I made it I didn't add as much honey and it was great in the rootbeer floats.

Does everything it should do
Not much to this; Honey, sugar and instructions. I can get the ingredients for less overall, but the convenience and having the how-to is nice.

Good and bad
Convenient quantities and clear instructions. But...it was sweet. Too sweet. Just a little too much sugar. I love soda pop. Even though its not the healthiest drinks. I'd like to make soda that isn't that sweet.
