John is at it again! Since purchasing our B3-2050 Brewing Sculpture a few years back, John Maier has created many specialty recipes just for himself. And since his I2PA was such a hit when we released it, we asked him for another one. Being the nice guy that he is, he sent over one of his private, 2050-System-only, impossible-to-taste-unless-you-live-in-Newport, Oregon brews - Blackened Brutal Bitter! John took his production beer, the wonderful Brutal Bitter, tweaked it around a bit and added some Carafa for color. The taste is out of this world! Try it and let us know. Or better yet, drop John a line and tell him!

fond of Rogue brews and they're expensive by the time they get on this side of the Mississippi

perfect beer
I brewed this all grain kit as BIAB. To me this is the best of both worlds, dark and hoppy (but not to bitter). I was drinking one last week and i thought, it doesn't get any better than this. i will brew this again.

Do this one! So delicious
One of my first 4 all-grain batches...came out lovely.
This beer is neither brutal nor bitter--but it is super delicious, and what you should expect from a Rogue recipe.

Sort of a Cascadian Dark Ale/Black IPA/ with the character of a solid Brown ale but darker and more complex. Nice aroma, really fairly dry. Easy drinking, and just darn right quaffable--My wife and friends can't get enough and I've had to hide a few away so I can actually get my own taste every now and again--it's a good problem to have. I'll be making it again soon.

Brew this one for an easy drinking fun brew with unique character!

Delicious!
what a stud of a beer! I love. It is lighter on the palate than its color would suggest. Nice bitterness throughout with a subtle malt flavor and hint of caramel. Not much in terms of hop aroma but I like the idea of a dry hop if I were to do it again. California ale yeast were a spot on choice for this brew. I mashed a little on the higher end to add a bit more body and I'm glad I did. Hands down I would brew this again.

Good beer; roasty, but nice balance
This beer turned out only alright due to yeast handling (old yeast package- my fault!), but I would be interested in brewing it again based on the intriguing malt bill. Use a decent starter for this one!

Love this beer
Great drinking beer. I added some dry hops to the secondary for a little more aroma. Place very good in a CDA competion I entered.
