Description

If you want to jump into all grain brewing right from your first batch, or as an upgrade from malt extract brewing, the BrewZilla is a complete turn key solution. The BrewZilla is an all-in-one electric brewery that has built in elements for heating and boiling, programmable mash schedule and delayed start, a built in pump for recirculation, an onboard water resistant control panel for setting and monitoring temperatures, a removable grain basket, and a built in spigot for transferring. It is extremely portable and uses 110V power so it can be used nearly anywhere.

The V3.1 unit features a redesigned main circuit board with higher quality relays for improved reliability and heat resistance. Improvements between the V3.1 Robobrew and the V3.1 BrewZilla include upgraded rocker switches, bottom handle for easier lifting and pouring, and rubber feet to keep the base of the unit lifted off the ground.

To get the Wort Chiller Connection Kit for free, add the item to your cart along with the BrewZilla and use code ROBOKIT at checkout.

Automatic Step Mashing & Delayed Start!
One of the coolest features of the BrewZilla is the ability to program the unit with up to 6 individual temperatures and durations so you can step mash precisely how you desire. Simply press the "S1-S6" button to select the stage you want to adjust, and use the temp, time and +/- buttons to program the stage. If you have less than 6 stages in your mash schedule, program the stages you want to skip with 00:00 as the time and the controller will automatically move on to the next step. When all the stages are complete, the unit will sound an alarm and hold the last set temperature.

The programmable stages can also be used to set a delayed start of up to 23 hours in advance so that you can have your water hot and ready to go when you get home from work or wake up in the morning. In order to do this, fill the unit with strike water and program the controller with two steps. Step 1 should be programmed at a temperature lower than the unheated strike water (so the elements will remain off), and the duration should be programmed for however long you want the delay. Then program Step 2 with your desired strike water temperature and a duration of 1-2 hours, giving the BrewZilla ample time to heat up and giving you a margin of error in case you hit the snooze button the morning of brew day.

Great Components
The built in magnetic drive pump easily recirculates the wort during the mash. We recommend getting some silicone tubing to go with the recirculation arm. This allows you more control over the recirculation and you can then use the same tubing to transfer your wort to your fermenter.

Dual heating elements run off of a single 110 volt plug and have individual switches allowing for more control over the heating process. One element is 1000 watts and the other is 500 for a combined 1500 watts! Use both when you need to ramp up the temperature quickly either at the start to get to your mash temp or to go from your mash temp to boiling. Use only one of the elements when you want to hold a temperature.

The digital control panel makes it easy to see the current temperature and set the temperature you want. The digital controller is also water resistant so don't worry about spills or some water dripping down the side. This controller is built for brewing!

The brewery also includes a stainless steel malt pipe with false bottom allowing you to easily shift from mash tun to boil kettle during your brew day. The malt pipe includes a handle to lift it out and tabs at the base so you can set the malt pipe over the kettle to let the wort drain out. It also has feet at its base to raise the malt pipe slightly off the base and help prevent clogging.

The included stainless steel wort chiller is shipped with bare ends so you can set it up for your situation. We list below the most common tubing and fittings to connect to a hose, hose bib, or faucet.

What MoreBeer! loves about this product: Homebrewing is trending in the direction of all-in-one, all-grain brewing systems and the BrewZilla is the ultimate value. The cost is half of the next comparable system with programmable mash steps and nearly the same as buying converted coolers and a kettle. We've brewed on all the systems and we can truly say the BrewZilla is the easiest to use. We feel confident that a lot of first time brewers could buy this and use it with ease. At the same time quite a few of our experienced, all-grain brewing staff are buying it to brew at home. The unit is extremely compact because the pump is built-in to the bottom of the unit. You can move it around with ease which makes it perfect for guys and gals that have space constraints. Someone on the team also mentioned how they like that you can drain it via gravity without having to use the pump. All in all a great buy and highly recommended. Please note you will need a few extra pieces of hardware to connect the wort chiller and at least 2' of silicone tubing for the sparge.

Use the Pump for More Than Just Recirculation!
One of the surprisingly handy features of the BrewZilla is that the recirculation pipe features a female camlock. This allows you to hook up other accessories and use the unit's pump for more than just recirculating wort. With a male camlock and silicone tubing, for example, you can use the internal pump to push wort through a plate chiller or counterflow chiller. Check out our selection of camlock fittings here

Note: The manual references an element for a different market.  This unit comes with two heating elements for a total of 1,500 watts.

This is appears to be an all-in-one system that takes all of the variance out of the process which will enable a homebrewer to really focus on recipes, and ultimately, a more consistent product.

To sparge do you need to heat secondary water and pour over the raised grains?
Kenneth A on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, that's exactly what you do. I own the version 2 and it's quite easy
How does it keep the trub out of the drain?
Kenneth A on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There's a removeable screen/false bottom that you put in first before the grain basket that keeps everything out of the drain as well as the recirculation pump. Very easy to clean at the end of brewing as well.
Is the pump accessible?
Isaac Ramsey on Mar 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes
would this be good for biab?
Phillip Johnston on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It replaces the need for a BIAB. The inside cylinder is the "Bag." Go ahead, you won't regret this purchse.
Is there any kind of Flow control on the pump or is it just on/off?
William J Leeper on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Flow control is in the valve on the tube on the side.
What is the height of the kettle when measured from the top of the false bottom to the rim?
ANDREW EVANS on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From inside the kettle the distance from the false bottom to the rim is 16 inches.
My Robobrew only gets as high as 212 degrees, anyone else have that issue?
Chris Padilla on Apr 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This is not uncommon, in fact it is the norm. Water boils at 212 and will never get any hotter than that. Once it hits 212 it turns to steam and boils off. The water that is left behind has yet to reach 212. The only way to increase the temp would be to pressurize the unit to retain the steam, not a good idea. If you want your unit to boil harder, you need to insulate it to retain more of the heat that escapes through the sides of the kettle. You can do this by purchasing the insulating jacket that is designed for the purpose, or as I did, go to Lowes/Home Depot and buy a small package of thin foam insulation and wrapping the unit with several layers. I used 4. The retained heat will convert more of your wort to steam and it will boil faster. The temp may even go higher than 212 a bit as the wort will contain a bit more steam as it boils off.
Does this need to be vented for steam if used in the basement?
Steve Seithel on Feb 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Probably a good idea to vent if indoors. No danger like propane but it wii boil off almost a gallon of water vapor per hour. This will cause a large increase in humidity and could cause mold issues if not vented.
Anyone knows the box size from Robobrew v3?
Aimbere Moura on Jan 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Aimbere - By "box size" would you be referring to the controller module?
Can you whirlpool with the included pump?
Jay Penneau on Jun 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Probably. You would have to hold the silicone tub by hand to keep it pointed the right direction. Or rig a clamp of some sort.
Does this come with the silicone tubing for the recirculation arm or does it need to be purchased as an add on? Online reviews in user groups says its included, but here it says it needs to be purchased as an add on. Thanks
brian terwilliger on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This does not include the tubing.

You will Need:
2' of H985 1/2" ID Silicone tubing for sparging and draining.
To connect included Chiller: (20') of D1710 1/2" ID beverage tubing (or whatever length required, (3) H950 hose clamps and (1) brass hose by thread adaptor (H508).

Robobrew V3.1 is excellent. I have made 3 beers with it so far. I primarily make IPAs and DIPAs so I use a lot of hops. I recommend using a hop spider to avoid plugging up the pump. If I have one recommendation for improvement I would ask for larger diameter recirculation line or a better screen to keep the pump from getting blocked.

Great value for the money
Having come from an electric kettle and cooler mash tun, I was apprehensive about an all in one system. I’m so glad I chose the RoboBrew. It’s half the price of other all-in-one systems with similar quality and hardware characteristics. The switches are heavy duty and the heating elements do the job. It holds the temperature to within 2 degrees F during the mash and will bring 6 gallons of water mashing temperature fairly quickly with the neoprene jacket.

I found the boil to be perfectly adequate in terms of intensity but it won’t be quite as strong as a propane flame. It won’t affect your brew.

In terms of the onboard computer, it’s pretty basic. It will hold the temperature and change temp after a certain number of minutes. If you like more of a hands on experience, this is the one for you. If you prefer Bluetooth and a more technical experience, then you need to figure out if the extra $500-$600 is worth it. For me, this does exactly what I need.

Circuit board fried!
Overall I really like my Robobrew, BUT a couple days ago during my boil I experience what many users have experienced. The circuit board overheated, fried and the machine died. Luckily I have the Grainfather Sparge Water Heater so I quickly transferred the wort and finished my boil in that unit. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed that now, just beyond my warranty, I have to purchase an “upgrade” kit to replace the fried board the LCD screen. This seems to be a flaw in the 3.0 version of the Robobrew and now I literally have to pay for something, I feel, should be covered by the manufacturer. Disappointing...

For the Family Brewer
This machine takes out much of the worry and anxiety of all grain brewing. When you have a family distracting you as you brew its nice to have a few things like temperature maintenance automated for you in a calmer indoor setting. I have less vessels less lines to be certain are sanitary and with the pump less jerry-rigged stands with hot wort at eye level or above.

For the most part you have to learn to brew well on your setup so transitioning to this will have its pain points and your heightened concerns about temperature and quarts per pound of grain, etc. but you can adapt to any setup given enough brews.

The setup is convenient enough with electricity that you can boil and then bring water back down to mash in temp. Pump is plenty powerful.

Great system
I was hesitant to get into all grain brewing. With the heat down here in Florida I didn't want to use a gas system. I'm totally satisfied with this electric system. It's well designed and made. It's easy to use And my first batch turned out better than any of my 26 extract batches.
