Imagine a brewing pump that eliminates cavitation, is easy to clean, has a built in valve, and is quiet. Introducing The RipTide pump from Blichmann, the first pump designed specifically for homebrewing.

We love this brew pump. Like a brewer wired on coffee, let us rattle off some of our favorite features.  First, the pull style relief valve that allows air to exit the pump head so the impeller won't cavitate is a genius addition. Our next favorite feature is the bad-ass, built-in flow control valve so you don't have to add additional ball-valves. While we dont manually clean our pumps very often we like the idea that we can easily do that with the clover clamp style connection. That might be particularly important if you are transferring cool wort where extra sanitation might make a difference.  Equally cool is the noise, or lack thereof, when operating. It just wears on you to hear your pump grinding away all day. The RipTide pump isn't silent, but it is much quieter.  And to top it all off we like the mounting base and the extra long 9' cord. 9' gets the plug connection a few feet away from where we are brewing and less likely to be exposed to water - a simple upgrade that is really nice.  Oh, and we almost forgot the power switch which is always a nice feature on something electric!

All in all this is a no brainer upgrade for the difference in cost.

  • Strong rare earth magnets and a curved blade impeller provide 7 GPM and up to 21 ft of lift
  • Tri-Clamp head disassembles easily for cleaning
  • 1/2" NPT inlet and outlet
  • Motor is enclosed in a splash proof and super quiet case
  • Rotatable stainless steel head
  • Integrated air release vent allows you to easily prime the pump everytime without those frustrating air bubbles and cavitation
  • Linear flow valve provided for excellent flow control
  • Power switch on base
  • 10 ft. long power cord with 120V plug

It is hands down the best pump on the markets. Sure it's also the most expensive. But no pump comes close to its options and performance! Buy once cry once. You get what you pay for. Blichmann products have never let me down.

What’s the amp rating for this pump?
neal dekoeyer on Sep 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Neal - I am unable to find documentation on amperage.
I run a small winery, would pump would work as a transfer pump? Currently using a surflo at 3 gpm.
Kirk Taylor on Jun 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It can work great as a transfer pump, but it will depend on your setup. The Riptide will transfer at a faster rate than the surflo, but won't build as much pressure. Transferring long distances, to higher elevations, or into the bottom of a large tank might slow or even stop the flow. That said, it's a great pump and I love mine. Tech support at Blichmann is great, let them know how you plan to use it and I'm sure they can give you an idea how well it will work. They want their customers to be happy
Does the tower of power pump bracket fit the riptide pump?
mark searle on Nov 12, 2019
what is the temperature rating for this pump? can it be used with boiling liquids?
Eric Albrecht on Jun 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what the rating is, but it's designed specifically for brewing, so I'd assume they did their homework on that. I own this pump and have used it several times to whirlpool on my boil kettle immediately after flame out on boiling wort and its still going strong.
will this pump work with a 2 barrel system?
Lewis Brewer on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yeah it should work out just fine, even if you are pumping liquid vertical. We use is to assist with emptying beer from barrels.
The dial on the face of the pump head is supposed to be for speed control, however we keep it wide open all the time. Not sure what the actual flow rate gpm is.
Hi Where can I buy The O ring for that pump?
Yury Aksenov on Aug 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We offer them under SKU H316. Happy brewing!

Does the pump need to be horizontal to function or can it be mounted vertically? (Like on a wall)
Benton K on Oct 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This can be mounted vertically or horizontally, it does not affect function of the pump. The pump does need to be primed, we do that by filling the inlet tube with water, then immediately submerging it in the liquid we will pump, and turning the pump on. Works every time, and it doesn't matter what position the pump is in.Enter an answer to this question.

It’s really worthy every penny. Very quiet, fast transfer. If you buy it you should not be disappointed.

Quiet, powerful, easy to clean! Does everything a brewing pump should do. Definitely recommend this to other home brewers.

Great Pump
So much quieter! Love the ability to control the flow. Nice ability to orient the in and out in different positions. After years of the grating whine of my old pump - this is so nice. I also like the pull pin prime ability. Only downside is that it is so quiet that I have to be close to tell that it is coming on and off with my sparge control. Only downside is that it doesn't fit the old bracket I have on my B3-1500 Beer Sculpture.

Blichman Pump Review
I own 3 of these. And mostly love them. For a home brewer they are great, a lot of pro's but also a few con's
+Very quiet
+Easy to clean
+Adjustable flow rate (additional tweak to your ball valve),
+Easy to reposition (swivel) the head by loosening Tri-clamp.
+Long power cord

-Spring loaded relief valve sticks with wort and spits HOT liquid on hands when pulled (Wear brewers gloves) Or don't use this feature.
-Very easy to lose small internal washer during disassembly.
-I am always fearful that the base will get liquid inside (But has not yet)

FYI: As with most pumps make sure you don't run dry and plug into a GFCI outlet.

Tailor made for home brewing
I bought this as a second pump to augment my Chugger pump, and the RipTide is superior in every way. Quiet, more stable on its own base, integrated throttle valve and power switch.. .it's all designed to work.

My only quibble is that the integrated "bleed valve," which is basically a PRV from a corny keg adapted to the pump, can't help but make a spewing mess when you release it. It faces upward and, by virtue of its design, any output flies outward in all directions. It will work in a pinch, but uncontrolled spewing of hot water or, worse, wort, isn't ideal.

Still, it's built in, which is more than any other models can say, and it does reprime the pump when you need it--without buying $25 worth of additional hardware.

Best pump on the market
Pump is very quiet, easy to take apart for cleaning, easy to put back together. The built in relief valve for priming is nice and the built in flow control is brilliant. I'm definitely going to buy another when I expand to a three vessel system.

Worth it for cleaning but not perfect (priming).
The ability clean it makes it worth it alone. Despite the purge valve, it DOES NOT self prime or prime easily. God in wish there was a self priming (diaphragm) pump that came apart to allow cleaning.
