Big, bold, and full of flavor.  The Pompous Ass Ale is a rendition of one of the most egotistical beers in America, and is not for the light-beer lover.  In fact, if you prefer a beer that looks and tastes more like water, we recommend you leave this page immediately.  Your feelings might get hurt just reading about it...

Our Arrogant Bastard clone easily has one of the most complex malt profiles of any of our kits.  The clean bitterness from Magnum hops allows the rich flavors of Aromatic, Special B, and Caramel Munich malts to control your taste buds.  The aromatics of Chinook hops blend perfectly with these malts, creating an intense combination of confusion and satisfaction at the same time.  After your first sip, if you're thinking "Whoa.  That was interesting, intense, & delicious!" you know you brewed it right!

  • Makes 5 gallons
  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.066-70
  • SRM (Color Range): 16-18
  • IBUs: 68-72
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 7.1%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled.

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Gets better with age
After fermenting and bottling the longer you bottle condition the better it tastes. Make sure you put in the Fridge overnight.

Well, sort of....
Not bad, quite drinkable. There are others for a better price that have a better taste. My male and female drinkers found this to be a bit on the sweet side, I agree. One goes down easily, second one gets too overpowering with the sweets taste. I will not brew this one again.

Seriously good
When I first read about this new kit I was really excited. Arrogant Bastard is a terrific beer. I expected this to be a great brew and thats exactly what it turned out to be. Toasty/malty beginning with a well balanced and solid bitter finish. Lots of great flavor depth. Comparing this clone to actual arrogant, I prefer this. Am I biased? Could be. Am I being arrogant? Quite possibly. I have a feeling this one isn't going to last through August. I also think it tastes best when it isn't super cooled. Definitely better around 50 degrees. More flavor comes through. I started one very cold from the fridge and the first sips were ok but were muted. As it got a little warmer it really started to rock.

2 packs S-05, ( Maybe overkill but I do a double with any beer expected over 1.060 OG % and my beers finish around 10-14 days and they always hit the right FG), oxygenated 2 minutes (if you don't use pure oxygen infusion you're making everything more difficult... your beers will change for the better if you get one... spend the 50 bucks). Fermented between 70-72. FG was spot on, and my ABV is around 7.2%. One 22 oz will have you feeling good and totally arrogant in no time. Do you Like good strong beers? Are you worthy? If so, Absolutely get this kit. 38.99 is an awesome deal, and these are delicious and powerful with ZERO "hot" or alcohol flavor (at least for me). You'll finish one 22 and not think twice about pouring 2nd.
