Description

Made from polycarbonate, these simple sight gauges are easy to install and clean. It comes with a 1/2 in BSP threaded post featuring a barb with o-rings and a 23.5 in polycarbonate tube that can be cut down to size.

Note: The tube may require a hose clamp to keep it fixed to the barb.

Does this have a temperature rating of 220 Deg F for installing on a keg kettle? Also I see the replacement glass (Item #MT520A) is more than the base item? What is the difference between the two items, (#MT521 and #MT520A)?

BEST ANSWER: Absolutely, this item is designed to be used on a boil kettle. The difference between #MT521 and #MT520A is that one comes assembled with the smaller parts needed and the other comes with just the replacement tube that costs more without the package deal.

As far as temp I have it on my boiling kettle and it’s fine. The part numbers and differences I can’t help with.

So, is the interior diameter 1/2"?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. The ID is 1/2". The tube on mine cracked a little over the o-rings before I had a chance to get the tube warm. A hose clamp sealed it up.

Yes. Tube is 1/2" inner diameter. Threaded fitting fits standard 1/2" female fittings.

Oversized

The description doesn't actually say the diameter of the sight glass anywhere. I expected that it would be 1/2" OD like the typical sight gauges used in homebrewing. Instead I received a massive 1/2" ID tube that doesn't fit the sight gauge I was replacing. Also, you won't maybe need a hose clamp to keep it from leaking. You absolutely will need something to clamp it in place, because the tube was still way wider than the post. Those o-rings are useless and will only serve to make you think you're getting something useful when you see the pictures on here.
