Description

The Pluto Beverage Gun is the ultimate hand held beer tap!  If you have been dispensing your draft beer out of a standard picnic tap, it's time to upgrade.  Definitely one of the coolest draft beer taps that we've seen, this Pluto Beverage Gun is made from nylon and stainless steel.  The body is plastic, while the barb, piston, and spring are all stainless.

Comes with a 1/4" duotight-compatible barb perfect for use with EVABarrier draft line. You will need either the 8mm x 6.5mm or 9.5mm x 6.5mm Duotight reducer to connect the EVABarrier to the Pluto.

Buying more of these, they are amazing. I keg a batch of sanitizer and use one of these to dispense the sanitizer as I need it.

Is the inside entirely stainless steel? Or does the beer come into contact with the plastic? The description only mentions the barb, piston, and spring, but not the pipe the beer flows through.
Jason Cox on Aug 31, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The beer definitely comes in contact with the "plastic"; only the barb, piston, and spring are stainless. The barrel or nozzle end is all plastic. That being said, it's not actually "plastic", it's Nylon. Nylon is BPA free and honestly the beer is only contacting it for a second while it flows through. I have both this version and the 100% Stainless Steel one. The nylon one is lighter and warmer in hand; the stainless one is MUCH heavier and very cold in hand since it stays in the fridge. They're both great, and I can't really recommend one over the other because I like them both.
How do you clean these? I love mine but it's leaking from the spout. I'm hoping a good cleaning will fix that. (I only use it for carbonated water.).
Sharon Kirkpatrick on Dec 12, 2022
BEST ANSWER: More beer doesn't want me adding links to other websites but go here
https://community.diybeer
.com/topic/15476-cleaning-pluto-beer-guns/

Soak, pressurize your keg with hot cleaner/sanitizer, run through gun, let soak internally, continue discharging, release pressure, disassemble, soak/sanitize loose parts, reassemble, depending on which cleaner you used flush with clean water (distilled if you don't want water spots). See link above for details. This is something I do each keg change or 3 months which ever comes first. You can add an inline quick disconnector just below the handle to make this easier.
What size tubing should I use with this gun? Can I used item D1717A?
Dinakar Jayarajan on Jan 18, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can use the D1717A EVA barrier tubing, but you still should use a hose clamp and D1717A tubing is a little on the stiff side compared to PVC beer lines. It is also more restrictive than 3/16, so take that into account when you figure out how long you need to cut it.
Is this the new reinforced one that's duotight compatible?
Garrett North on Dec 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes these are duotight compatible.

Really wanted to like these
I bought 3 of these as I didn't have a setup for regular faucets, and thought these looked much better than picnic taps. Of the 3, one seems to work nicely. One leaked badly on first use, even after much fuss and was returned. The third worked at first but after a couple uses is leaking and now garbage. It pours fine but when you release the trigger it sprays all over and foams your beer until you spin the shank just right then, if your lucky, it will stop spraying foam everyswhere, unacceptable. Will not be buying more. Bummer.

love it
I love this tap! It works so much better than the old picnic taps for filling growlers and it's fun to use too.

Works well, would prefer a threaded fitting
The fitting is hard (impossible?) to get over EVA barrier hose, so would prefer threaded fittings like on a ball lock QD flare.

Could be better...
I bought three of these when they had a sale on them. Two of them function flawlessly! One however has been an absolute nightmare. At times it won't shut off completly when you release the handle and beer shoots everywhere! Not every time mind you but you never know when it will happen. I have disassembled, inspected and cleaned it several times and still cannot get it to work reliably. Just now getting around to writtting this review as it failed again this morning and just spent an hour cleaning up the mess!

Much better than a picnic tap and when paired with a flow control valve, pours like a dream. No complaints.

Pluto rocks
The Pluto gun is a great way to dispense your beer. You can turn your pressure up for a quick pour and it won’t produce foam. Easy to adjust , durable and easier to hold on to than the picnic taps.

Well worth the extra $$
I think it is well worth the extra $10 versus the cheap $3 picnic tap option. Very easy to handle.

Impossible to beat cheap tap
Holy smokes is this thing a good deal. Could it pour a bit faster? Sure*. Could it be a touch easier to clean? Probably. But it's a highly serviceable superstar of an option for dispensing beer, and is practically free. I may consider an upgrade to the stainless version at some point, but unless you're setting up a proper shank and tap, I can't imagine a better option. Did I mention that it costs about as much as a 1930s coffee?

*I have an inline flow regulator due to crazy short hose length (long story), so this may be a factor - though given the small pipe (?) diameter, I can't imagine it goes toe to toe with like Perlick taps
