Description

As far as bucket spigots go, this is about as cool as you get. First, unlike many other designs, these spigots don't leak (bonus).  Second it rotates even when sealed so it won't hit the table or floor (duh!). Third the outlet barb has two different diameters so that you can attach  3/8" or 1/2" tubing (thats cool).

The interior nut on these spigots also have a unique design where the opening can be rotated up to effectively block sediment if used in a bucket for fermentation or can be rotated down when used in a bottling bucket (genius).  These are also just beefier than other spigots on the market.

Does this fit the plastic fermonster ported carboys?
Andrew Butler on Apr 27, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I have purchased two of them from MoreBeer for my Fermonsters, and I can confirm that they fit. Order an extra FE348 spigot washer though. I have had trouble with spigots sealing on Fermonsters when only one washer is used. I now use a washer on the inside and on the outside. The extra washer is cheap insurance to me.
what size hole should I drill in the fermonster to install this?
Marcus Kenley Boyd on Apr 7, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I just measured the OD of the threaded end, using calipers. It measures 1.030" in diameter. If you have a step drill bit in 1/16" increments, you can use 1-1/16"

Perfect and leak free
I have these on 4 fermenter buckets and they have worked perfectly for several years with zero leaks. Gasket goes on the outside and don’t over-tighten. Highly recommended!

Cheap plastic
This spigot is not like the ones made years ago. Lasted 1 month before handle broke off.

Works really nice, it didn't leak and allows me to turn the spigot 90 degrees without loosening up the fitting nut.

Excellent faucet for plastic bucket
Good seal. Roatates smoothly. Good flow and volume. The sediment block was not the reason I bought this, but I can see it would work well.

This Could Be Better
I bought two of these for two new Fermonster fermenters.
They only come with ONE washer.
On the first fermenter I had the washer on the inside, and it leaked. I repositioned it, and it leaked. I took it apart and tried again, and it leaked. I took it apart and moved the washer to the outside, and it sealed the first time. Two weeks later I readied the next fermenter and started with the washer on the outside. It sealed the first time. I still have concerns as these house long term sours.
Conclusion - On Fermonster fermenters you’ll want to use the washer on the outside.
Knock on More Beer - How much would it cost to have this manufactured with two washers? I’m guessing less than $0.05. I would be more than willing to pay a little extra for something that has ALL the parts needed to function safely and properly. Someone has to know there is a problem here, and it should be fixed on their future purchase orders to their supplier.

Michael - Thank you for your feedback. Yes the washers belong on the outside of the vessel. That being said, I am unsure the need of two gaskets if they don't leak. Actually adding a second could cause the unit to leak again.

good idea
this spigot was designed to prevent the sediment or true from being transferred, if your location is too high it may hold back too much clear liquid

Not for Fermonster
Spigot only comes with one washer. Attached one to each of the Fermonsters I bought and both leaked. Contacted Customer service and was told "I had the same problem until I started using Keg Lube and
Then I used another washer on the inside and the outside. That fixed everything."

Excuse me, you mean to say that the answer to getting the brand new item to work is buy more stuff? When I pushed back, I was told that if I don't already have extra washers, I should buy more.

Suggestion, if you know that the item needs two washers to seal properly, ship it with two. From a custom service stand point, mail out the 2 washers in an envelope, I am not paying shipping for 2 washers.

Hi Cory, I'm terribly sorry for the experience you had with our customer service team. Honestly, installing the spigots can be tricky. It requires the right amount of tightness, not too much or too little, to ensure a proper seal otherwise your washer will displace. You can achieve a proper seal with only one washer, some folks will either put it on the inside or outside, I've seen success either way. Using two washers will absolutely help the seal but it's not required. The recommendations given were tips found to help the leaks. I apologize again for the frustration with the leak and experience with us.

Poor fit for Plastic Bucket - 7.9 Gallons (30 L) FE357A
Spigot was difficult to install. Broke when I tried to back it out. Threaded stem is too short for bucket wall, making the sediment block useless.

Decent, and cheap.
This leaks less and is more sturdy than the other plastic spigot available on MoreBeer.
It also rotates, which can be nice, but difficult to clean.
The "sediment block" feature is useless, since sediment will still accumulate inside the spigot, making it more difficult to get a clear sample.

I would pay for something better quality than this.... Hint, hint.
