Plastic Bucket Fermenter With Spigot - 7.9 Gallons (30 L)

Plastic Bucket Fermenter With Spigot - 7.9 Gallons (30 L)

In Stock
60 day no hassle return policy. Details

This is a 7.9 gallon plastic fermenter complete with lid, airlock, and spigot. These buckets are made from Polypropylene and are ideal for all types of fermentations, especially beers with high krausen.

Why Polypropylene?
These buckets are made from polypropylene as it is less porous and significantly smoother than other HDPE fermenters. HDPE is porous and can harbor microbial activity making it more difficult to clean and sanitize. Being less porous, polypropylene also does not absorb aroma like HDPE so there is less flavor carry over from batch to batch.
Kit Includes:
  • 7.9 gallon plastic bucket
  • Plastic lid with hole and grommet
  • Airlock
  • Spigot

Please note: some customers have noted in the reviews that when the spigot is fully threaded in, the barb end will be below the bottom of the bucket, which may require the bucket to be placed on a countertop or other raised surface.

Good value.
Nice buckets overall. Teflon tape helps with the seal on the spigot. The spigot ends up lower than the bucket of pointed straight down, but the bucket sits flush if you point the spigot at 7 or 730ish. If connecting a hose to the spigot for transferring this angle shouldn't cause issues but i haven't used the spigot yet. The airlocks seem more solid than the other 3 piece airlocks i bought before.

Very Poor Product
Threaded spigot bad idea - when screwed in to prevent leaking, spigot points up at about 10:00. Also, lid extremely hard to lock on.

Nice bucket, but beware of spigot
I bought this bucket because I needed more headroom for a Belgian ale. Worked great. Lid seals well and is easy to open. Handles on the side make it easy to lift.

What I am not liking is the built-in threaded spigot receptacle. When in the upright position, the spigot sticks below the bottom of the bucket. If you want to set it on the floor, you have to unscrew the spigot an eighth to a quarter turn. I got some leakage around the threads when I did that--not very much, but not good. What is more troubling is that yeast has gotten into parts of the receptacle where I can see it but I cannot clean it. If yeast can get in there, so can less desirable microbes. That is REALLY NOT GOOD!

Using the spigot provided is optional. You have to drill out the wall of the bucket at the back of the receptacle to use it. I recommend not using the spigot provided. (You can order the bucket without the spigot.) If you want a spigot, drill a hole elsewhere for a generic spigot.
