Description
  • Pilsner is the lightest LME we sell and our most recommended liquid extract for brewing lagers
  • A reliable base malt extract for brewing German Lagers, Czech Pilsners, and Belgian style beers
  • Can be used as 100% of your fermentable sugar in extract brewing
  • Add for color correction, boost gravity, or improve head retention in all grain brewing

Made from Pilsner style 2-row malt with added Carapils for body this extract is absolutely perfect as the base for any lager, especially German lagers and Czech Pilsners. Our Pilsner Malt Extract is also a our first choice for Belgian style beers. This is the most fermentable malt extract we sell so you if you are looking for dry beer with a crisp finish and less residual maltiness this is your best choice. This also the lightest malt extract we sell as you can see in the photo.

Pilsner malt extract is the most fragile malt extract because aging and exposure to high temperature will darken it and change the flavor.  Packaged in oxygen barrier foil bags that keep the extract from oxidizing. Does fresh extract make a difference ...decide for yourself!

We recommend customers to store their extract in the refrigerator if they do not plan on using it within 8 weeks.

How fresh is your LME?

BEST ANSWER: We always make sure to keep our LME as fresh as possible. We get deliveries of fresh extract every month and always cycle through all of our stock on a FIFO basis.
Ordered 12lbs of Pilsner extract. received it and used it 2 weeks later. When putting it into my boil, it was really dark. Does the malts not last very long before they Darken?

I used this as 7 out of 8 pounds in a New England style session IPA.

It came out straw gold (even with the other pound being an amber DME) and I won first place for style and people's choice at my club's competition. We (including myself) are all grain brewers, some bjcp judges (including myself), and there were some pro-brewers judging as well. I wanted to show that a 100% extract beer could win- and it did!
