Word on the street is that thiol boosting strains are the cat's pajamas, so who better to lean into this developing trend with than Omega Yeast? Put a spin on your lager brewing with Lunar Crush®, a distinctively tropical Thiolized® lager strain. This kitten purrs as it biotransforms thiol precursors from malt, hops, and grape-derived products for a new wave of passion fruit, guava, and New Zealand Sauvignon blanc fruitiness. This isn’t your typical lager yeast — Lunar Crush is the perfect companion for complex, hop-forward styles or even creating something entirely new by simplifying your recipe for the boldest thiol expression.

For best results, use Phantasm Powder during whirlpool to add Thiol Precursors to your wort before fermentation.

Please Note: For best results we Always recommend ordering an Ice Pack with your liquid yeast. Ice Packs can be found below in the "You might Also Need" section.

Available only in the US. While we would love to make these strains available internationally, many countries regulations do not yet allow the sale of organisms developed using modern gene-editing, regardless of the type of modification introduced by the technique. Please feel free to contact us for more information!

**Patent Pending

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

This is a special, thiolized GMO lager yeast. I'm excited to see what kind of crazy, fruity lagers that I can make.

Wow! True Passionfruit and Guava.....
Made my first Lager (been brewing ales for 21 years) with this yeast. Mostly Vienna and Pilsner malts. Used only one hop (Zuper Sazzer from Hop Head Farm in Michigan). Mash hopped and did a small 60 minute and small 20 minute addition. That's it. I have to say, after fermenting at 60 degF for 10 days, it's already down to 1.007 (from 1.049) and tasting like a tropical fruit storm. A little sulfur, but I will let that age out and do a diacetyl rest.

Amazed.
