Description

  • Oxebar Mono is a lightweight 2-gallon keg with high oxygen barrier properties compared to standard PET plastic
  • Add the Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head to easily pressurize and dispense at home or on the go
  • Lighter than traditional glass growlers. Easier and safer to transport
  • Made from Nylon impregnated PET for superior oxygen barrier
  • Wedge seals on the optional Tapping Head and Ball Lock Caps eliminate points of oxygen ingress found where rubber is traditionally used
  • Lower total oxygen pickup compared to a standard corny keg lid seal

This 2-gallon keg is lightweight, compact and has high oxygen barrier properties with 3x better (meaning less) gas transmission than traditional PET grades of plastic making it suitable for beer storage or other oxygen sensitive carbonated and non-carbonated beverages.

This product is sold with the PCO38 cap, however if you would like to dispense this product through a draft system, we recommend the use of the Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head. The tapping head is sold separately and allows you to attach standard ball lock disconnects and pressure relief valve to the top of the keg.

What is Oxebar Mono
Oxebar Mono is a PET polymer blend that utilizes several polymers blended together to significantly improve gas barrier properties. When compared with standard PET plastic, Oxebar Mono is able to reduce oxygen ingress and CO2 loss so your precious beverage is preserved and shelf life extended by 3x. We recommend this product for beer storage of up to 6 months.

Almost impossible to find the Kegland ones or any other alternatives in Canada and it's a very good solution for taking homebrew to parties or events without having to worry about bottles.

BEST ANSWER: I treat these much like other PET jugs and fermenters. Add hot water (not over 140F ... I use tap water which tops around 120F) with PBW or other cleaning agent and shake. No brushes or other instruments that could scratch the surface. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
Will you be getting the 5 Liter Oxebar in?
James F on Dec 7, 2023
I will want to only tap one of these at a time. The others I would fill and want to cap and pressurize under CO2. No liquid out nor PRV. Is there an adapter that screws on for gas in only?
DAVID J I on May 8, 2023
BEST ANSWER: If you really just want to store it, then put 1/4 cup of sugar and put the original cap back on. It’ll keep for 6 months. Or put 3 carb caps and only push in gas. Don’t try soda caps as a cheap alternative to the carb caps. Even with Teflon tape, they won’t hold. There is no adapter, just carb caps.
Could you force carbonate your Homebrew with this?

BEST ANSWER: I will add an extra comment that's needed per my experience, and needs to be addressed by kegland. I own three of these now, and they all leak when they are first assembled. always use plumbers tape to seal threads. IMO the only way to get it right the first time is shear luck of not over or under tightening. Once I used plumbers tape all leaks were fixed. So, yes it can be forced carbed but make sure it passes a a leak test prior to filling kegs
What CO2 gear do you need to go with this?
Steve W on Apr 4, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Normal Cornelius kegging equipment-
CO2 tank, regulator, ball lock connectors, gas hose.

You also need the Oxebar adapter kit, which screws on the Oxebar, and includes the gas and liquid ball lock valves, dip tube and pressure release valve.
What would be the best way to carbonate in these kegs?
Damian E on Apr 26, 2023
BEST ANSWER: An easy way that I do it is to fill it with cold crashed beer leaving a small amout of head space and screw on a Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head with the dip tube attached. Before yout tighten the tapping head, squeeze out all of the air to reduce you chance of oxidation. Then with the tapping head tightened, apply gas and carbonate the same way you would a corny keg. Pay careful attention to ensure that the cap is tight enough that there are no leaks. I have eight of these bottles and a few of them need a lot of torque before they stop leaking ans wasting my gas.
Does a regular 38mm growler cap fit on this keg?

Works great for me
Fits in my small fridge so no need to get a separate fridge. I generally just do my IPA's in it. I have two, ferment in one and then close transfer to the other for serving. Very cost effective and easier to handle than regular kegs.

Wait For Leaking Problems to be Corrected
I've been brewing for over 40 years and I thought these would make a nice travel set up for picnics, camping and other event. Nothing but leaks. I went though 6 16g CO2 cartridges to push 2 gallons of beer. Tried everything to tighten, but still leaking. I'll do a bathtub test when I get home from this trip. But for now I have 2 gal of un carbonated beer. Until Kegland addresses this issue I would not recommend.

A VERY NICE SOLUTION BUT
This is a very nice and affordable solution to keg you beer and take it with you. the only downside I find is that the wall of the bottle feels too thin and sometimes I feel afraid to brake it. otherwise is a good solution.

Great way to start kegging/sharing.
I bought 4 (8L) kegs, and 4 of the "heads".. I have poured through 2 at this point.
Initial thoughts were:

Really "plastic" smell when opening. Did not seem to affect the beer. This seemed to dissipate after the first use.

Really fiddly heads that took a while to get them straight to not leak. Please check for leaks before leaving them alone.. Maybe gaskets would help? I don't like trying to over-tighten plastic.

I used them. I like:
The format/size. These fit great in small places, an be used sideways(with a check valve).

I can fit 3 inside the pancho keg cooler with a sodastream CO2 tank, so some selection to bring with is nice.

The price(maybe), at least I'm not out a ton if I leave them somewhere etc..

I dislike:
I don't always get as good a connection with the ball-lock connectors which seemed to result in "hammering" until I adjusted the connector or held it tight through the pour.

when cleaning them, do not try to empty if full by just turning them upside down, they collapse, and seems like that might be bad long-term. Live and learn I suppose (See picture)

The "feet" seem really dinged up. I don't feel I abused them. I do have concrete floors in my basement, but it goes beyond scratches into "dents" which again, seem like will be a wearing point over time. and it almost looks like where it dented there may be some separation between layers?

I don't feel comfortable cleaning as hot as stainless, fortunately Liquid PBW exists now.

I'm neutral on:
Not being able to get my hands inside to clean. This is somewhat offset by the ability to see the insides. I run a lot of standard sixtel kegs, so not too big a deal, as my normal keg-washer should work.

Over all, I think they are going to cost more than used stainless kegs, less than brand new ones. This depends on how long they last I suppose. Again, the format seems nice, and they are pretty portable, and with the flexible dip tube, can be loaded on their sides..

As an aside, I bought the "starter" kits. The individual bottle price seems to have gone down, while the tapping heads went up a little. This may make them a better long-term price if the kegs cost less.

As a second aside, after my initial review, MoreBeer reached out, Top notch customer support. I will continue to buy from them as the first stop(after my LHBS of course).
Creased after turning bottle that was full of cleaning solution upside down.
I didn't think I was too hard on them. This was a single use.

Great concept, check for leaks!
Perfect fit in my keezer adding a 5th vessel. My first beverage is a G&T, kept at 30psi. I ended up with a leak. I really had to crank down on everything to get a leak free seal. They should provide gaskets for the 4 sealing points.

Pretty cool, could be better
I was super stoked to find this product, I assumed it had a regular soda thread and I could use the carp cap tee for a cheaper setup, but it is a much larger size cap so you must purchase the 3 way ball lock/prv/dip tube setup for these to work.

I was excited to see this up and started with a pbw wash. When filling the bottle, the “feet” at the bottom quickly buckled under the weight of water and are somewhat indented. This was a pretty big bummer. The plastic is very thin, about as thick as a regular 2L bottle, possibly thinner?

I washed it and filled it back up with StarSan and then pressurized the bottle hoping the frets indentations would pop back out but they did not fully reform. There are still a bit of small dents, and I’m afraid after a few uses one of these dents will crack and start to leak.

So far though, no problem, I purged the keg, and attempted one last time to reform the feet with 30psi of pressure, sadly it did not help.

All and all, I’m stoked to have a cheap keg I can catch extra beer in or bring to the bbq, I wish the plastic was a bit thicker, or the bottoms feet were reinforced somehow.

Last thing to note, with the shape the feet make at the bottom, the filter at the end of the dip tube cannot get every last drop out. To fully get all the StarSan out of the purged bottle, I had to flip it upside down, and release the last couple oz through the PRV.
