Description

Allows for easy and efficient gas transfers, ensuring minimal oxygen exposure and preserving the delicate flavors and aromas of your barrel-aged creations!

  • Stainless lock down mechanism to adjust height
  • Compression Silicone Bung to form airtight seal with barrel
  • Adjustable lees pin

Transfer wine out of a barrel using inert gas to reduce oxidization with our Gas Transfer Tool. After using most all similar tools on themarket, we took what we liked and disliked and made our own. Obviously we love the price!... but perhaps more impressive is the polished finish and the excellent quality welds. We sell it without a sight-gauge welded in or attached. We found it easier to clean without a welded in place sight-gauge. We also found that most wineries already had other sight-gauges in the winery and did not need it included. Of course it is available as an option, (sight-gauge H664, clamp H652, gasket, h656.) Replacement gaskets and parts in stock and available.

Quality Features

  • Stainless lock down mechanism to adjust height
  • Polished stainless tube
  • Compression Silicone Bung to form airtight seal with barrel
  • Adjustable lees pin
  • Made from 304 stainless steel

    Specifications
  • 1.5" Tri-Clover Outlet
  • 1/4" Stainless Steel Ball Valve with FPT inlet for inert gas
  • 31" height from lees pin to pictured stopper

is this height adjustable to fit any size barrel? I have several 5 and 10 gallon barrels i need it for. HELP!
Francisco Ramos on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, not only does it have an adjustable lees pin at the bottom but the whole valve and bung assembly can be adjusted along the whole length of the racking cane to accommodate various size barrels.
What is the maximum vessel depth achievable if the stopper is pushed as high as it will go? I am looking to transfer apple juice for cider from a 275 gallon IBC tote which measures about 38" from the lid to bottom of the tote. I may need to extend the tube so it reaches the bottom. If so, what is the outer diameter of the stainless tube?
Nico C on Nov 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I just measured that maximum vertical distance as about 33.5”, maybe a bit more. The outer diameter of the stainless tube is 1 7/64”, or just under an inch and an eighth, as measured with a digital caliper. Hope this helps.
I have several stainless kegs (old firestones) that take a #10 stopper. Any idea if the stopper will fit this sized keg?
Mark P on Mar 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what a #10 stopper dimensions are. The small end of this one is 1.75 inches. At the top its closer to 2.25 inches. It expands to seal the bung hole when you turn the lower screw handle right above the rubber stopper. I would say if the hole in your keg is about 2 inches this will work.
How do you clean the assembly? I cannot locate an instruction manual.
Tim Q on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I run PBW through it for 20 minutes or so: put PBW + water in the boil kettle, hook the BK outlet to the outlet of the cane and put the whole thing in the BK so the solution flows through the cane, out of the BK, back into the top of the cane and out of the bottom again.
what are the packaging dimensions?
Eric Carrasco M on May 8, 2022
What is the recommended CO2 pressure? Looks like it has a PRV.
Tim Q on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The PRV on this is rated to 55 psi. All of the other answers are correct that you really just need a little bit of pressure to push your product out of the barrel. Then when you're finished you can either relieve the pressure with the PRV.
I have a 220L steel tank I’d like to push wine into when racking through the 1/2” ball valve at the base of the tank. Can I expect that 10PSI will maintain pushing the wine into the tank even when the tank is almost full? My concern is that the gravity pressure coming from the tank from the weight of the wine will be greater than that being pushed by the gas and it won’t work. Anyone doing this?
Chad H on Nov 20, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The short answer is yes, though it all depends on the pressure inside the receiving tank. If your receiving tank has a port that you can vent pressure before you start and leave open during the transfer (to allow for gas to escape as you take up volume with liquid) then 10 psi will be more than enough to push the liquid against gravity and the weight of the liquid itself. We use this tool to rack out of 53 and 60 gallon barrels into a 217 (7bbl) tank. Onec we start on the second barrel we are pushing against the contents of the first barrel already in the receiving tank and don't have any issues. We also transfer from tank to tank and push up to 15 bbl from one fermenter to another at much less than a 10 psi gradient.
Does this tool pressurize the tank being transferred from the top or the bottom? I’m concerned about disturbing the lees at the bottom of the tank during transfer if the gas comes out the bottom of the tool.
Shawn w on Oct 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use one of these in my home winery. It pressurizes from the top (where the rubber seal is) and presses liquid up from the bottom. You have to set the little screw in the bottom to lift the liquid pipe off the bottom of barrel so you don't push up lees that are on the bottom. Works great.
How and where exactly does the H665 sight gauge attach to the Barrel Gas Transfer Tool?

Sight Gauge - 1.5 in. TC
Sight Gauge - 1.5 in. TC
BEST ANSWER: It attaches to the ferrule at the top of the “periscope”. The short end of the “L” shaped device. Use a sanitary gasket and a triclamp to attach it.
Will this work on speidel plastic fermenters/storage tanks?
Charles Taft on May 4, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The bung on this and the bung on the speidel are pretty close in size so this should work. it just needs to make a tight seal on the bung hole and then a few PSI should do the job. The largest size speidel (120 liter) is probably too tall for this to work but it should work on the 60 liter and the 30 liter.
Using this to transfer wine from out of a 59 gallon barreling using argon. How much gas would this use? I have a small 40 cu ft tank and wondering how much of that tank it will take?
Robert J on Feb 15, 2023
BEST ANSWER: I can usually pull about 10 with a 200cuft tank.
Can someone provide links to purchase the clamp H652 and gasket h656 that go with the sight gauge referenced in the description?

Cheaper than and comparable to other brands
So far so good. This bad boy is the bees knees, we used it to transfer a mixed ferm that spent 19 months in the barrel, straight to the keg. The ability to remove all the soft parts is monumental in keeping peace of mind between mixed ferm and regular batches.
