Ferment 10 gallon batches of beer in these beautiful conical fermenters, and control the temperature of your fermenting beer to within 1 degree, any time of the year! The included Dual-Stage Controller will simultaneously control both the cooling unit and the 40-Watt heater. The cooling unit mounts to the outside of the cone with no internal contact with the beer. The cooling is extremely gentle on your yeast, changing wort temperatures at about a degree an hour. It can get to and hold your ale fermentation temperatures of 65-72 Fahrenheit even in  ambient temps of 100° Fahrenheit. In addition, it can get to and hold lager fermentation temperatures of 48-52° Fahrenheit all the way up to ambient temperatures of 80 Fahrenheit.

The Leg Extension Option (CONP770) is needed if you wish to gravity feed into a keg. If you would like to use CO2 to push your beer into a keg, you will need the CO2 Adapter Package (CONP775).

Cooling is designed to work with 10 to 11 gallon batches.  Please note that when dropping temperature, your fermenting wort will contract and may pull liquid from your blowoff bucket into the fermentor.  This may also occur when dumping trub from the bottom port, or when racking from the racking arm.

I like it.
Over several years I've made many excellent beers in it.
I have replacement parts but am still using all original gaskets etc.
keeps ale at temp in cold garage in winter and cools pretty quite well unless the ambient temp is approaching 90 F and actually works even then.
I have the 10 psi spring for the PRV on the lid and I carbonate while I cold crash directly from CO2 tank regulator to tri-climp fitting (at blow off location).
Be careful of positive displacement when dumping as it is a sealed system and will suck either air or your blowoff solution if not careful (hook up CO2).
The only assembly challenge at each brew day is ensuring a complete seal with the lid gasket which tends to pinch and gap if not careful when tightening the large lid clamp, entirely functional with care.
Allows me to have a completely closed cold side brewery, racking from the kettle and pushing with CO2 into kegs. I am also able to shoot for 13 gallon batches which provide a solid harvest for two 5 gallon kegs after dump, transfer etc.

Well engenered
This fine piece of equipment works exactly as advertised. I have a bad back so this is a must have. I live in Texas and I can still ferment lagers in my garage. The fan turns on a few times a day and cools a bit faster than advertised (1f /15 minutes). Setup is semi intuitive but not a problem.

Expensive, but worth every penny
If you are a serious home brewer, buy this and it will be the best investment you will make. I have two now, have fermented about 20 batches in each, and they work really well. With the yeast harvesting capabilities, the optional o2 stone the ability to make easy Co2 based keg transfers, these conicals have gotten me to a point where I feel that I'm producing beer that rivals or is as good as anything I can get in the store. You will want to get the wheels, CO2 adapter, sight class and O2 stone. I can't imagine not having those accessories. They hold ale temps perfectly in all climates. (even when its 115f in my garage ). I wouldn't expect to keep lager temps in the summer though.

I will say the sealing clamp and lid gasket are my least liked part of the system. They can be a total pain to get aligned and adjusted to fit/seal correctly. After a long brew day, I don't look forward to sealing the fermenter. But, if you want a fully self contained fermenter, there are no alternatives, so you have to deal with it. Would love to see MoreBeer innovate a better latch-style solution for the seal.

I want another one
I've been a homebrewer for over 10 years and I've owned my heated/cooled conical for about a year and half. It probably has 25 batches through it so far. I'll keep it short and list the pros and cons first then expand on them in more detail for those who want to read on.

Self contained heating/cooling is priceless and very reliable. 30F below ambient really is achievable.
Easy to clean.
Ability to push beer through a filter and into a keg directly from the fermenter.
It looks cool.
Easy to sneak a sample without opening the fermenter and using a "thief".
Yeast harvesting is a breeze.

It's rather expensive.
The lid gasket sometimes doesn't seal correctly.
I wish it had another (larger) opening in the lid for dry hopping.
It creates a bottleneck in your brewery because you won't want to use anything else.

So let me explain some of these a bit more. I've heard plenty of people argue that conicals are tough to clean but those people must not have a MoreBeer conical. One advantage that the MoreBeer conicals have over alot of other conicals on the market is the 3" tri-clamp fitting on the cover. It's easy to find a CIP spray ball for a 3" tri-clamp ferrule so after I transfer my beer out of the fermenter, I simply open the bottom dump valve, give it a quick spray through the top port to rinse the majority of the gunk out, then I attach a spray ball through the lid. I use a submersible pump in a bucket placed underneath the bottom dump valve to recirculate PBW through the fermenter. Using this method there is usually no scrubbing required at all. To be clear though, after this cleaning, I still remove all of the other fittings and give them a thorough cleaning.

The gasket for the lid is finicky. I quite often have batches that will not bubble out through the blowoff/airlock because the lid gasket doesn't properly seal. However, the gasket still seals well enough that I'm able to push the beer out of the fermenter through a filter and into a keg using CO2 pressure...so as I've said, it's finicky.
I also wish there was another opening in the lid for adding dry hops and such. The "cap" at the top of the fermenter contains the thermowell for monitoring the temperature so if you want to open the fermenter and add something, you have to remove the temperature probe and the long thermowell. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it's a bit tricky to handle the long thermowell and maintain sanitary conditions. If you need to set it aside, you can't simply drop it in a small container of sanitizer like you could with an ordinary tri-clamp cover.

Bottom line - this was a great addition to my brewery and I want another one.

Handy, well designed but no blow off feedback
My only real complaint about this system is that I never get any feedback in the blowoff bucket. I've tried tightening up everything but still no visible fermentation feedback.

I love my conical (her name is "Bubbles").

If you are thinking about purchasing one, do it! You won't regret having it.

A couple of minor gripes:

The foam insulation doesn't wear very well and will sag a bit. At some point, I'm sure it will need to be replaced.

The weight of the cooling assembly does cause it to sit a a bit crooked. A purely aesthetic issue that doesn't affect operation.

Perfect? Not quite. But after about 10 batches, I'm happy enough to start setting aside funds for a second.

I like it a lot
After loading the first batch into this conical, I like it a lot. Holds the 68 ale temp rock solid. The dump valve and sample/rack valve are nice. It has all welded sanitary fittings that are nice quality. Even without the cooling/heating system, the conical itself is a big step above Blichmann in quality and features. I will say that once you have all cooling/heating/blowoff 'stuff' attached, the whole setup looks more like a sci-fi space probe than a conical fermenter, but it gets the job done nicely.

I love this thing
I got mine almost 4 years ago. I didn't like brewing (err.. fermenting) lagers until I got this wicked piece of awesomeness. I can ferment lagers all summer long without using my keezer as a chamber. It's also great to dump trub & take samples without a thief. I have definitely got my moneys worth out of it and continue to recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade to a conical.

Doesn't Get Better Than This....
I've been using fermenter for about 8 months now and it has been critical to making good beers. My brewery isn't cooled and temperatures get 105+ degrees in the summer and in the 40's in the winter and the MoreBeer fermenter has always maintained my beer at the perfect fermentation temperature. I am so impressed.

The fermenter is easy to use, allows the quick dumping of trub and easily cleaned.

Way to go MoreBeer... a great design and function fermenter.

Great fermenter
Easy to clean and use. Very well built. I love being able to push the beer directly into a keg with the CO2 adapter. Only thing i would caution on is the liquid volume has to be at the same level as the heat sync for efficient cooling, which you will not be at if you do five gallon batches. I hadn't considered that when i purchased it and wish i would have bought the smaller one now. It hasn't seemed to be a problem for ales, but for lagers when trying to get the beer down well below room temp it has been a challenge.
