Description

Are you a fan of Moose Drool? This is MoreBeer!'s take on the popular brown ale from Big Sky Brewing.

Combining 4 different grains this all grain recipe is full of flavor. The chocolate malt, caramel 60L, and midnight wheat give this beer a nice light brown color and a taste that is light on the palate. Malt , caramel, chocolate, and coffee are just a few of the flavors you'll enjoy in this complex ale.

If you like brown ales that leave you wanting more but doesn't knock you off your feet, then this is the perfect recipe for you!

  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.041-1.048
  • SRM: 18-21
  • IBUs: 47-49
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 4-5%

I build my water. Any recommendations for treating RO water to brew Brown Moose?

BEST ANSWER: Hello, I use RO water for all my brewing. Up to now I don’t do anything with the water. I just attended a water conditioning class at a local home brew shop. I’m going to start adjusting my PH in both the sparg & mash water to around 6 PH. It should make better beer. I’ve brewed the Brown Moose Ale 2 or 3 time with just RO water and it turned out good. Happy Brewing….

Awesome Brown Ale
I had some flaked barley that needed to be used up so I added this (1.5 lbs) along with some rice hulls (6oz). Very delicious brown ale and a definite one to make again. Everyone that tried it loved it.

all grain brown moose kit
Just tried the "Moose" after 3 weeks of conditioning and it turned out great. Had a mild malt taste with-out the bite of some malted beers. It will continue to develop a better flavor profile after additional conditioning. Well worth the $24 investment and will re-order several more kits.
