Includes Extension?:

A complete kit that includes the Monster MM3 mill and hopper, with or without the extension. Monster mills are known for being great quality, top of the line, homebrewing mills. With all the great features of the already popular MM-2, and the addition of a third roller, you'll be able to achieve the best crush around, at a higher throughput speed. The MM-3 crushes all your grain twice, with one pass through the mill. It starts with a preliminary crush through the initial fixed gap between the top two rollers, and then ends with a pass through the second gap between the drive roller, and the bottom third roller. The initial pass slightly flattens the grain, and gets it ready for the next crush, that breaks apart the grains and loosens the starch with minimal husk damage.

The MM-3 consists of a 6061 aluminum block frame with three 6" long steel rollers riding on SAE 841 oil impregnated bronze bushings. We use a superior grade of steel that is much harder than what is found on most comparable products and should last almost twice as long. The drive shaft, and all the axles are integral to the roller rather than screwed into the ends. This makes it fine to drive the mill clockwise, or counter-clockwise. All the axles are 3/8", with minimal freeplay in the bushings.

One knurled steel roller is driven by a standard electric drill (not included) to feed the grain through the initial fixed gap of approximately .060", and then through the adjustable secondary gap and crush the grist. Both ends of the non-driven top idler roller ride in bronze bushings that are pressed into the frames, while the second idler roller rides in bushings that are offset mounted in an adjustable knob. The knob is held in a fixed position by a set-screw that you can loosen to adjust the mill. This system provides an adjustment range of .065". The knobs are made from 303 stainless steel for excellent durability, and are larger in diameter than the competition, as well as knurled for a positive grip. They've also added a groove in our newest design knobs with a matching rounded head on the thumbscrew that allows for a much better grip on the knob to avoid gap changes while milling, and also providing knob retention.

These Packages come complete with a Base, 3 Roller Monster Mill Body, and a Hopper.  Choose whether to include the Hopper Extension, which upgrades Hopper capacity to a huge 39 lb!

  • Three six-inch steel rollers form two gaps, a preliminary fixed gap of approx .060", and a fully adjustable secondary gap.
  • Dual eccentric adjusters: 0 to .065" secondary gap - built from STAINLESS STEEL for no galling
  • 8 lbs / minute throughput
  • 3 x 6" hardened steel rollers
  • Rollers last for 12,000 - 15,000 lbs of grain
  • Drill-drive - CW, OR CCW
  • Alloy frame
  • SAE 841 oil impregnated bronze bushings
  • 1.5" diameter steel rollers
  • 3/8" integral drive shaft w/3 flats for drill driving, 2" long outside frame
  • 1144 alloy steel rollers

BEST ANSWER: I wish I could answer that for you but I've had trouble getting the shaft coupler to stop slipping ever since I got it and when I reached out to Brewmaster they were no help. The motor sure seems good in concept but I have trouble figuring out how it's compatible with anything so far :/ that said the mail I attempted to hook into is a three Roller Mill but not a monster brand, again my concern would be with a design in general not so much which Mill it should be connected to
Is the drive shaft round, or indexed to provide a better grip on the chuck of a drill?
Herbert Pokorny on Jun 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: "3/8 inch integral drive shaft w/3 flats for drill driving, 2" long outside of frame" Yes there are 3 flat spots on the drive shaft, drill chuck works well.
Can this mill down to flour size?
Roy Baker on Apr 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This mill cannot be adjusted tight enough to pulverize grain into flour. Even if you ran it a few times it would still be very coarse.
How tall is the assembly with the extension?
Daniel Clark on May 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: From very bottom of included wood board plate to top of stock hopper is 14 inches tall, and from very bottom of the base to top of the extension is 23 inches, so the extension adds 9 inches, cheers
What are the dimensions of the wood board? I would like to be able to set this on top of my 30G mash tun.
Daniel Clark on May 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The board that came with mine (about a year ago) is 12" square, with the hole toward one edge (so you can swing a handle).

(NOTE, I have since remounted mine on a larger board, so I could mount a motor.)
What is the capacity without the hopper extension?
JEFF M on Oct 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 11lbs. Awesome Mill too, never had any issues
What are the dimensions of the base rollers? I'm retiring my Captain Crush mill and would like to adapt my hopper to MM3. Cheers!
Dick Rogers on May 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The rollers themselves on this mill are 1 1/2", I imagine you're more interested in the dimensions of the roller housing for adapting a hopper though. They are 3 1/2" wide, 7" deep, and 3 3/8" tall.

Great mill, though it'd be nice for the price to come with a file or two to set the gap. Also, I'd recommend a drill that's corded, because my ryobi cordless has to work pretty hard.

Works great. Easy to assemble. Can’t be beat. You won’t be disappointed. I upgraded from a small two roller mill and could never go back.

Monster Mill
Worked as advertised. Perfect for my home brew, allows me to store grain longer before milling. Heavy duty, built to last.,

This unit is replacing a worn out Barley Crusher. The MM is more robust and better built. The hopper comes unassembled, but is easy to put together. The three rollers are larger in circumference and more stout. I didn’t adjust the gap, but it is easy to do. I ran 6 pounds of cracked corn thru it 3 cups at a time so I could see how it works. Corn is very hard and the MM did well. Twice I needed to run the mill in reverse to clear some very hard grain before continuing. This thing will munch soft grain without issue. Very satisfied thus far

Only used it once so far but worked great
I had a cereal killer and it worked great for 7 years but rollers started to wear out. I did close to 4000 pounds of grain through it so definitely got my moneys worth but wanted something a little heavier duty. The monster mill crushed at about 10 pounds a minute which was very impressive and ten times faster than the worn down cereal killer and I crush at .035 inches.

Great Mill
I have the package without the hopper extension and without the crank handle. My overall impression is that this mill works great. I haven't had it for very long, so I can't speak to longevity. Time will tell if the rollers and bushings hold up with torque from a drill running grain through it. But others seem to attest to the fact that it will.

As for some of the finer details, there were some small things that were really nice features, and there were some things that could use minor improvement. I like the fact that the shaft is squared off slightly to allow for a better grip by drill chuck. If the shaft is completely round, the drill will sometimes slip under heavier torque. There are also pins on the bottom of the roller assembly that align with holes drilled in the base, which pretty much dummy proofs aligning the rollers with the base. I also like that the adjustment knobs turn pretty freely, making adjusting fairly easy. A couple things that could be improved are the roller adjustment process and the instructions. You can adjust the rollers fairly easily, but if you plan to use a feeler gauge to gap them, you have to take the hopper off. This entails removing 2 set screws and the 4 bolts holding the hopper on. I get it. It's a trade off between easy access and firmly securing the hopper to the mill. Also, the instructions aren't great. The text is pretty minimal and the image is a pretty basic exploded diagram. It gives you the gist, but it's missing some simple info like what size wrenches you need, how to assemble a couple of the hopper pieces that aren't in the diagram, and even which direction the screws should be facing that hold the hopper together. In most cases, the mill will work as long as the rollers are appropriately attached to the base. And you'll know if you messed something up as soon as you run a little grain through it, but the instructions could be a little better.

All in all, I'm satisfied.

Excellent mill
I’ve used a cheap 2 roller mill for the last few years and this is so much reliable and so much faster. If you thinking about making the upgrade to a 3 roller mill you won’t be disappointed.

This thing is amazing
I had a two roller mill and wanted to upgrade. Let me tell you, this did not disappoint. Out of the box and got it set up in no time. The first thing i noticed was the sheer weight of this thing. I loaded it up with grain and fired it up. It shewed through it like the grain wasn't even there. The only bad mark I can give this is with the wooden base it comes with. I use a bucket to mill my grains. My cheap 2roller mill came with stoppers that held the wood in place. It was a nice addition to have that this one does not come with. Not a knock, just an observation. Overall I love this thing.

Monster Mill
I have so far only done a test crush on a few pounds of grain. I was impressed with the result. Nice crush of the kernel, leaving the husk intact. I'm looking forward to using it in an actual brewl
