Description

Maple Syrup, Bacon and Beer. You will be the brewer who makes this happen, maple, bacon and beer together... on tap... in your house. You will be revered and worshipped like the holy grail.  Low whispers will trail your every move.... "There he goes, the ONE who makes bacon beer".

As for us... we had to test maple bacon syrup for six months to get it right. Then we had to brew maple bacon beer for another six months to get the recipe right. It was awful. But don't shed a tear for us... we brew beer like it's our job. Well, actually it is our job.

Complexity! This is a brown ale that is amazingly complex, with no one flavor dominating the other.  We use six different flavoring malts including, Abbey Malt, Caravienne, Crystal 60, Carapils, Chocolate, and Cherrywood smoked for unmatched depth. On that amazing base we add one pound of our out of this World Maple Bacon Candi Syrup.  To make this syrup, real smoked bacon is cooked at high temperature in artisanal small batches of liquid candi sugar. We then finish the beer with a couple ounces of East Kent Golding hops that seamlessly blends in earthy, floral characteristics and adds the final dimension.  With its amazing combination of rich, subtle flavors and mild bitterness this is the perfect beer to have on tap when the weather turns a bit chilly.

Just ordered the maple bacon brown ale recipe. What would you guys think about adding the syrup after primary fermentation to get more of a maple taste. Or should I follow the directions. As posted?

BEST ANSWER: That is what the manufacture suggests (add at high krausen), I just ordered this kit and that is what I plan on doing.

Fell short of expectations
Maybe I hyped myself up thinking I would taste the bacon. Although the beer has a good flavor, the Maple overpowers any bacon flavor it may have.

I’m not a smoked beer guy but.......
Loved the flavor for the first week. Bacon/maple faded quick. But I was left with a cool light smoke flavor in a light brown beer. Pretty tasty.

OMG why didnt you do this sooner?
After seeing BrewDogs show on maple syrup and bacon beer we had to try this out. We were not disappointed.

Brewed it per instructions. Added in maple and bacon mix in last 5 minutes of boil. Dry hopped 5 strips apple-wood smoked bacon, (nuked for 5 minutes)on day 7 of primary fermentation.

You definitely taste the maple syrup, bacon is subtle and smoke. Real smoky in fact some thought it was a smoke porter until the maple syrup kicks in on the back side..

We added this to our brew schedule.
