This is a great lid to have on hand when you want to add a stopper with an airlock to your 6 gallon bucket. It has a 1 1/4" pre-drilled hole which fits a #7 or universal stopper. Drilled in-house at MoreBeer!
Note: This lid is not an air tight seal. There is no gasket in this lid.
Mad. Not the lid pictured. Does not match the Fermentation Bucket.
Should I have to read the reviews, or should the item pictured be the one that I recieved? The lid is not the standard white food grade lid which comes with the standard white food grade bucket. It should be a matching pair, especially since that is what is pictured in the photo. My lid is translucent with a hole which is much larger than the one pictured (I do not have stopper sizes visually memorized). Unfortunately for me I assumed that MoreFlavor would make it logical and simple. In their defense they did say that it took a number 7 stopper (which I ordered) and that it didn't come with a gasket (I didn't see the fine print, but why sell a fermenter lid that is not air tight? Anti-logic!). They did not say that it did not match the picture of the lid, or the bucket pictured on their website! Four dollars isn't worth the return postage! A picture is not worth a thousand words at MoreFlavor! And I still need a lid. Furious.
It's a very well made lid that fits the 6 Gal bucket very well. Would give it 5 stars if it came with a smaller hole and gasket for a water lock. I used a rubber stopper and it seems to be working fine, but not all stoppers will be big enough to fit.
Why sell a lit with no gasket I know it's my fault for not reading the note but I already have a batch fermenting and 2 days into fermentation there are no bubbles out of the airlock so I smelt around the lid and sure enough the lid leaks. Very disappointed!! Be sure to buy gasket.
I have not had any issues with this lid not sealing. I know so because I have had yeast overflow out of my airlock. An added benefit is that it uses a size 7 stopper so if yeast does overflow it is easy to remove the stopper and/or airlock to save the batch.
Lid closes but not airtight, buy gasket as recommended
It is what it is, a plastic lid for a fermenting bucket. I did not buy the gasket right off the bat, but still used it with an airlock to ferment. Even though the seal was not there my beer turned out all right. I gave it four stars because I wish the gasket was included.
