Description
  • Our Special Oktoberfest closely mirrors the original Oktoberfest recipe with a twist on the hops. Ferment with either ale or lager yeast
  • Includes Perle and Mt. Hood hops
  • Estimated ABV: 5%
  • Estimated IBUs: 22-26
  • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

Oktoberfests were typically made in spring and aged in caves over the summer. We've made this a "Special Oktoberfest" with ale yeast instead of lager strains! Try cold aging this beer in the fridge for a month before drinking.

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. Festbier not a Oktoberfest (marzen)
Maltier than a Pilsner that is very balanced. Overall this isn’t a Oktoberfest but a Festbier (the actual beer of Oktoberfest). It’s an easy drinking beer. Mine came out at 4.5% (slightly under the 5% prediction of the kit) but will give a nice beer to drink during College football games.

First Oktoberfest, great results!
I was so little hesitant with this kit, because of the ale fermentation versus lagering. But the finished product is fantastic! Kegged it after just over two weeks. Tastes better each day, I wanted to wait at least 4 weeks for conditioning but it just tastes too good to wait. Will buy again...probably as soon as I'm done writing this.

Very good, but there are better ones
This made a good beer, but it wasn't as malty as I would have liked. On it's own, I would be happy. It's a tasty beer. However, compared to my prior recipes and store-bought martzens, this could be a little maltier. .

Halloween Hit
I kinda rushed this for a Halloween party we hosted. Kegged after 12 day?s fermenting. Force carbed for 5. Turned out great. I got lots of compliments

Refreshing OctoberFest Beer
Awesome beer, smooth taste with amazing flavors.

Defiantly need to go 8 weeks on this beer before you drink.
4 weeks in keg minimum for optimum taste.

I have brewed this beer 4 times now, every time it gets slightly better. This is a must have for October!
