Description

Comes with a back nut, plastic collar, hex nut, and a 1/4" barb. Requires a 1" hole saw for installation. When set in place, the shank will only have about 2 1/2" of length to pass through your wall or fridge door, due to the length of the collar and back nut.

Installation note: On a fridge there is generally no coolant lines running through the door but please check to see there are no lines connecting the door and the rest of the refrigerator. To test for coolant lines on a freezer start with a warm freezer then plug the unit in with the lid open. You should be able to see the lines form condensation on the inside of the freezer where there are lines running. Please still use caution when drilling.

Dimensions:

  • 5-1/8" - Total Length (Tip to Tip)
  • 4" - Shank Length (Without Nut & Barb)
  • 3" - Thread Length
  • 2-1/2" - Pass Through Length

Can I hook a flare fitting to the end of this shank by removing the barb? Do I need any special parts?
Seth Hostvet on Feb 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Seth - You can swap out the barb for item # D1726.
I'm building a keezee. I plan on using 2x6 or 2x8 collar. Will these work? I already have 3 intertap SS faucets.
John Coughlin on Jun 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It worked for me. I built a two tap wooden jockey box that holds the 2 1/2 gallon kegs inside. I was most worried about the "plumbing" items but these turned out to be the easiest part. Have fun and send pix

BEST ANSWER: Yeah, I have 3 of those shanks and just put the DuoTight ends on them recently.
Can this be used with a Perlick faucet?
Jeff Venegas on Jul 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It can absolutely be used with a Perlick faucet. I ended up changing out my Perlicks with Intertaps after my Perlicks started to drip, but that had nothing to do with the shank.
I ordered this and the intertap chrome faucet. Do I need to purchase any other gaskets or o-rings for the shank or faucet or does it comes with those?
Robert Watson on Oct 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Robert, no additional gaskets or o-rings are needed for the initial set up. We offer a seal and gasket kit for the Intertap faucets when replacing is needed.
What is the diameter of the black plastic collar?
MITCHELL Campbell on Dec 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi, Mitchell....
the black collar has an outside diameter of about 2.19 in (~55.7 mm) and an inside diameter of of about 0.89 in (22.6 mm), Hope this helps.
My keezer is setup for 3/16" beer line. Do you sell compatible 3/16" barbs? I don't want to triple my beer line length to use 1/4" barbs.
Chris Stackhouse on Dec 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Got 3/16" lines on mine. If you have trouble fitting it just soften the end of the line by dipping it in hot water for about 20-30 seconds.
Is there a 3/16" barb that's compatible with this shank?
Chris Stackhouse on Dec 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No but almost all 1/4 inch barbs will fit both 3/16 id and 1/4 in ID tubing. I just heat the tubing up a little with hot water and press it on. It's not to hard to do.

What size beverage line works best with these and how long of a line for a 7.0 chest freezer/keezer?
John Coughlin on Sep 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have a 7.0 Chest Keezer and I used 5 foot of 3/16 line on my taps to kegs and get a good flow with around 6 lbs. of pressure. Your pressure to line length would depend on the height of the taps from the kegs and what temp you have the keezer at. I keep mine at 39 degrees… Good luck!
What size spade bit did you all use to get this shank in a 2x6?
John Coughlin on Sep 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi John - I would recommend a 7/8" bit. OD of shank measures .873", 7/8 bit to decimal is .875, which should make for a nice tight fit.
Is there a Duotight fitting that attaches to the 90 degree tail?

Does the trick.
Fit my Keezer/Nukatap forward sealing self closing flow control faucet well.
Last of the six to be done.
Cheers!

Fixed me leak
To save a few bucks, I purchased a cheaper non-Intertap shank for my Intertap faucets. First keg tapped and it was nothing but leaks no matter what I did to fix it. I purchased the Intertap shank and success! No more leaks. I would have given 5 stars, but I think the shanks are way overpriced.

Looks good, works good, not entirely stainless
Has some chrome pieces on the outside (to connect to faucet). Won't touch your beer, but not strictly stainless

Okay, but inter tap as a whole could have done better
The shank spins when I installed it through my fridge wall. The worst part is that the inter tap faucet oring, if tightened to where you think it should be, causes the beer not to flow past the flow control mechanism. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the shank or the faucet but if they are from the same manufacturer, I would think that they would fit properly and always work. I have to gently tighten the ring until I see restriction of the beer when open full and the turn it back to get the full flow.

Intertap Shank - 4"
This is a quality shank, that I can recommend. Like most others, it comes with the cheap looking black plastic collar. I replaced it with the SS collar, sold separately.

If you are using a Duotight fitting with this, the following may be helpful. I understand there is a Duotight fitting compatible with the Intertap connection, but I prefer 1 fitting to the 2 required with that setup.

My serving fridge is a chest freezer with a wood collar. The collar is made with a 2X and a 1X. A 4" faucet shank is just long enough with the supplied beer in fitting with this configuration. Longer shanks make access more challenging. However, I decided to use the Duotight fitting. This fitting requires just a bit more shank than the 4 inch shank has to tighten. My solution was to create a 1/4 inch deep recess using a 1 1/2 inch Forstner bit. This allowed the faucet nut to tighten just enough to give the Duotight enough space to seal.

Great shank
Shank works great with inter tap faucet. I have this shank and a generic one on my keezer. I can say the main benefit to the inter tap shank is its compatibility with the self closing spring. The faucet doesn’t have much benefit over a generic if no spring is used. You can get the spring to work with a generic, but it’s an extremely tight fit in my experience, and I’ll probably end up replacing it with another intertap eventually. Imo worth the extra cost if using the spring.
