Hop Back - Stainless Steel

Hop Back - Stainless Steel

A hop back is a small vessel used after the boil kettle and ahead of a counter flow chiller to add "hop brightness" to the brew. Ours has a clear lid in order to see the level of the liquid running into it, and a screen in the bottom. It will hold at least 2 ounces of whole hops. Normally you would gravity feed into the hopback and pump out. We have found it very easy to match the flow rates and keep a constant level. It is 7.5" wide from coupler to coupler and 8.5" tall.

Great Trub filter
I always had a hard time preventing trub and hop pellets entering my carboys. This solved that and now my wort is crystal clear. I thought it wold be tricky to balance the level of the wort, but as long as you have a ball valve at the bottom and top to throttle the flow. Well made with clean welds and the false bottom fitting tight in hop back. Just one thing to now the first time you use it, the glass lid will make a ticking noise due to the heat of the hot wort rising, but I have seen no damage because of this. Great product and another tool in my arsenal to add hop flavor.
