Will this work with the Coolstix for Fermonster and thermowell model?
Michael Rainey on Jan 18, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The material is flimsy but it works on my older style 5g carboy. The cooling rod sticks up pretty high as well but it might not be so with a 6gal carboy. I was thinking of getting a large hose clamp to secure the base to the carboy as an extra precaution. I’d recommend this item because I have not found any alternatives. Coolstix really helped me brew at colder temp in my uncooled garage in Southern California heat wave!

Not the best seal
With the very minimum surface area in contact with each of the three items (thermowell, Coolstix, airlock), it seems that the CO2 is escaping around them rather than being channeled through the airlock. In all fairness, this is a lot of stuff to try to fit into a standard carboy and a difficult design to conquer.
Other than that, it is easy to use and I cannot say for sure that it would let any foreign particles in to interfere with the fermentation process.
