Notched Lid:

Made for brewing, our Heavy Duty Brew Kettles have two 1/2" threaded couplers welded to them. The bottom outlet is very unique with male threads on the outside (for connecting a ball valve) and female threads on the inside for connecting whatever you wish. Check out these features!

They Will Last a Lifetime!
Constructed from durable, long-lasting stainless steel, these kettles are virtually dent proof. Over the years, we have heard countless stories from brewers who have ruined their thin-walled kettles by dropping and denting them. This is no longer an issue with these beefy, super-thick kettles.

Tri-Clad Bottom
Our kettles are built with a tri-clad bottom featuring an aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel. Aluminum allows for even heat distribution while the food-grade stainless steel is the only metal in contact with your wort. Even heat distribution eliminates hot spots, which prevents scorching of your malt and makes cleanup a breeze!

Seamless - Made from a single piece of metal
Our kettles are drawn, meaning the kettle is made from one piece of stainless steel. No welded seams.

Heavy Duty Handles!
The handles on these kettles are just as heavy duty as the rest of the kettle. This is because they are made from rolled stainless steel, which is strong and easy on your hands.

This is one of the few series that has the correct mash tun size for doing a high gravity 10 gal batch. This can accommodate 45 lbs of grain at a reasonable water to grist ratio.

Why would I need a notched lid?
Steve Robinson on Jan 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Notched lids have multiple purposes. If you are using it for a boil kettle then you would use it to accomodate an immersion chiller. If you are using the kettle as a mash tun, then you will need to perform a recirculation during the mash (at the most basic level this means turning your burner on, then opening your kettle ball valve, letting the wort go from the ketlle, down to a pump, which pumps the wort back up to the top of the kettle to sprinkle it over the top of the grain bed). The whole purpose is to maintain mash temp - which a steel kettle can't do on its own over a 1 hour mash. The best device for sprinkling the wort over the grain bed is the "ultimate sparge arm", which requires mounting to the kettle wall. A notch can accomodate the part of the mounting assembly that bears against the inside of the kettle wall...yes you could just take the lid off and mount the arm...but that would cause more heat loss. FUN FACT: the notch that is provided on this specific lid is TOO SMALL for the ultimate sparge arm, so you will have to find somebody with a mill that can make the notch slightly longer/wider. Easy job for somebody with the equipment. Search in your area and you'll find somewhere that should do it cheap.

If you are planning to use the kettle as a boil kettle, then the notch is appropriately sized for an immersion chiller. However with a batch size that is even close to the size of this kettle, I don't think you'd wan't to be using an immersion chiller. Plate/ counterflow chillers are the way to go at that point.

Solid pot and worth the price point
Very happy so far with the pot. Knew it didn't have the bells and whistles, but preferred the better price. Very heavy duty, and welds and handles are all solid.

Favorite kettle!
This is a great kettle. Very sturdy pot, quality stainless steel for the price. Wish it had volume markings though.

Kettle quality
Poor weld quality. Very low grade stainless steel (magnet sticks to it like black iron). This is brushed stainless steel, not polished. Fine for use as HLT, but I would not use as a brew kettle.

Good kettle, but weak welds on lid.
The weld on the lid handle does not hold, even with ordinary usage. I know a couple of other homebrewers who has this kettle and had the same problem, usually after only a couple years of use.

No complaints!
I have the 26 gallon brew kettle and the 26 gallon mash tun and they allow me to make a BUNCH of beer at once!! The construction is solid, easy to clean, aesthetically pleasing.
Should be the last kettles I will ever buy.

Very Sturdy
I have purchased this kettle for my electric brewery build and I am glad I did. They are built very heavy and are solid enough to securely support all the additional port's I've added for my Herme's coil, sight guage, thermowell, re-circ. port, ect... Built to last.
