How do you tell what the volume of a carboy is?
William Waugh on Dec 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There is one way to measure the volume. You can fill a vessel for which you know the volume with water and add that water to the carboy until the carboy is full. If it is a one-gallon jug then you will count how many jug fulls it takes to fill the carboy. You can also do it the other way around; fill the carboy and then empty it into your other vessel(s) and count how many it fills.

China
Cheap carboy, made in China, the casting is so bad I'm afraid to put it under vacuum. Does not compare to the Italian made glass carboys which typically sell for about the same price. This was a surprise coming from Morewine, since most of the products I've purchased have been good quality.

Glass is the way to go!!
Received this carboy in a well packed box. I was worried at first that it would come in one piece but glass is super thick. 6 gallon size is great for that extra space for 5 gallon batches. During violent fermentation that extra space keeps things easier to maintain.

Something to think about....
I have had this carboy for a long time, maybe 10 years, and have run a lot of beer through it. However, eventually the beerstone has built up in the channels to the point I don't feel like I can really get it clean.

Glass is the best in my opinion
This product has lasted me years. Does not scratch and easy to clean. I would prefer the 6.5 gallon for brewing beer so it has room to rise when fermenting. This is good for wine too. Just be careful because this is glass.
