I am using this for my secondary fermentation process, as well as an 2 month aging container. At this stage you want the container as full as you can get it to prevent oxidation of your wine/beer

Be aware glass is not Annealed properly!!!!!
Got two of these they looked pretty good had lots of air bubbles in the glass so I took extra care when cleaning, put them in plastic milk crate’s on my first batch I always use a plastic fermenter so this was cool and not an active fermentation but filled on a rack after to get it off the lees, after two day’s sitting in the same spot never being moved the bottom cracked and left me with a huge mess, I have watch a video on the carboys blowing out on YouTube and I will only buy glass from Italy as they slowly cool their glass down making them 100% better than the cheaper glass, I still have one carboys of this manufacture and if I ever use it it will definitely have to be put in a tote that will catch all of the beer/ or wine I have in it. Lesson learned no more cheap glass carboys.

Heavy duty
It's 5 gals, anything more will be too much. but for the home brewer, 5-gal batches, using this for 2nd fermentation, it's perfect. Primary works better in bucket or other easier to clean container.

I'm ordering a 3 gallon and a 5 gallon and wondering if they are both lead free. They do not say Italian glass. Also need to know which stopper is best for these bottles? #6 OR #7?
THANK YOU..

Response from MoreFlavor
Both of these sizes of carboy are made with 100% lead-free glass. We have tested and confirmed that ourselves as well. The stoppers we like the best for these are the #7 (FE440) or Universal Stoppers (FE494). Thank you for shopping with us.
