Foam Control (FermCap S)

Foam Control (FermCap S)

Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

No more boil overs, no more blow-off tubes. Once you’ve used Foam Control you’ll never brew without it again!
Foam control does just what its name suggests--it reduces foam production during  the hot-break portion of the boil, and it reduces the amount of krausen developed during fermentation.
Also known as FermCap S, Foam Control does not affect the head on your finished beer. In fact, it can actually increase the head by retaining head-forming compounds that would have been blown off during fermentation. It will settle-out of your beer before bottling or kegging as it is actually absorbed onto the surface of the yeast cells and filter media.
Add two drops per gallon at start of fermentation. Comes in an eye dropper bottle for easy use. 1 oz is good for about 50 x 5-gallon batches of beer. Also available in bulk 1 gallon size.
Note: Keeps best when stored in the refrigerator.

I have only used once and I didn't use enough, only added 3-4 drops to 7 gallons, seemed to help especially during fermentation? I will use next batch and add the amount recommended at 2 drops per gallon, still seemed to knock down foam!

Makes boil-over worries a thing of the past
Used before the boil of a large batch of Belgian Triple. No excessive foaming at all. One caveat though is maybe to re-add some drops before fermentation too. I didn't do this and had a pretty significant blow-off and mess. Maybe my initial addition during the boil dropped out and was not effective for the fermentation portion?

I've had zero fermentation messes since I started using
Been using for a few years in my fermenters so I don't lose to my blow off vessel what I should be drinking. Had a hothead starter going the other day and I should've used a drop or two.

Stopped blow-off during fermentation
I had purchased a 5 gallon Speidel fermenter when I upgraded from 1 gallon to 5 gallon batches. Should have got the 7 gallon fermenter because, being a noob, I didn’t realize I need the extra head space. Had a few disastrous blow-off incidents (Imagine stout spewed all over the ceiling and walls) so I did some online research. This product Fermcap-S was recommended to control the krausen development which causes blow-off.

I simply add 10 drops right before adding the wort to the fermenter and the past 5 batches of brew since using Fermcap have been blow-off free. There is also this added benefit of the final beer product having a denser head. How that works? No clue, it just does. One bottle should last about 10-15 five gallon batches so it is an inexpensive addition to my brewing process.

No more foam
Principally Used for boiling DME in flask for starters , no more boilovers, used some in boil kettle to try and same results, still need to try in fermentors and see what happens.
