An essential ingredient for certain specialty beers.
Use this fresh Flaked Wheat for making Witbiers and other specialties. Helps with head retention in all beers. Will leave a slight haze. Can also be used in place of unmalted wheat in many recipes.
I needed some backbone in a robust porter I'd brewed a few times that came out a little thin. A pound of this turned the trick. Nice, creamy mouthfeel. Won't fit in every style but if you want to punch up a beer this is definitely an option.
I had a recipe that called for this. I am not much of a wheat beer guy but, HEY Jack, gotta try something different now and then. I just used this as a fairly small addition in a recipe I was brewing. Great results and obviously fresh product.
Like torrified wheat, this stuff is pre-gelatinized but has no enzymes of its own so it must be mashed with base malt. Good stuff if used appropriately.
