This hydrometer did not come with a temperature guide. I was wondering what the temperature of the liquid should be at?
Steven Grant on Mar 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The paper scale in this hydrometer says 15.6° C and 60° F.
What is the length and diameter of this product? I'm wanting to know so that I may choose an appropriately sized jar.
Dkobs on Aug 18, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The final gravity hydrometer is 29.5 cm (11 5/8 in.) long and the bottom bulb is 19 mm (3/4 in.) diameter. The glass tube where you read gravity is only 4 mm diameter (compared to 7 mm for my triple scale hydrometer) so it is fragile but the scale is 4 times larger making it very accurate for final readings.
What is the calibration temperature of this hydrometer? Is it 60F or 68F? The MoreBeer online tool only mentions the Triple Scale Hydrometer, not the Final Gravity Hydrometer.
Roderick on Jul 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I have purchased the Final Gravity Hydrometer and mine is cal @ 60. They are very fragile.

Works well if you are looking for more accuracy on FG. Comes with a protective tube to help stabilize the top when storing.

I may have ordered the wrong hydrometer. Just brewed a batch of beer that said estimated original gravity should be 1.066-1.070. This hydrometer only goes to 1.020. Maybe this one is not designed for beer?

Good, but delicate
There is plenty of room between numbers for accurate final gravity readings. No more worrying about the meniscus and guessing between a few points. Still, as others have mentioned, it is really delicate. The stem is so thin, I would not pick it up that way, and definitely wouldn't hold it by the stem at any sort of angle. Still, if you're careful it should give you good service, and the lack of guesswork will make it worth the investment.

Great resolution
I love this hydrometer. It has so much better resolution. Only worried about how thin the top is (handle with care or it could break).

Doesn't come with graduated cylinder
I would rate this 5 stars if it came with its own graduated cylinder.I tried using the one from my regular hydrometer, but this final gravity hydrometer is slightly wider and sticks to the sides of the cylinder. For $22 bucks it should include it's own plastic cylinder.
