The Ported Fermonster is a brand new fermenter designed specifically for fermentation. MoreBeer! gave product feedback for over 2 years of development and we think they nailed the design. The large lid allows for easy filling and makes hop or oak additions a breeze. The smooth sides are fantastic for sanitization - no ribs or texture to collect yeast or bacteria.  The large 7 gallon size was designed to provide ample space for fermentation and you'll find the molded in volume markers super handy for accurate filling. The punted bottom allows sediment to collect to the sides so that you can siphon liquid from the center.  Because they are made from vigin PET plastic they nearly unbreakable and a lot safer than similar glass carboys. Also notice the conical top which reduces surface area if you plan to store beer or wine long term.

These ported versions come with our plastic spigot (FE347), allowing for easy racking and sampling!

Made from heavy PET plastic, the same material used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration.  Due to the thickness of the material and the overall geometry the Fermonster does not require ribs or dimples for stability.  That results in a super smooth interior surface that reduces yeast and sediment buildup making it the easiest to clean, most sanitary PET carboy on the market.  The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside.  The 7 gallon volume is a monster of a fermenter, reducing blowoff issues seen with standard 5 and 6 gallon carboys. Fermonsters are easily moved by hand or consider using our Carboy Carrier for even greater ease of use.

These fermentors are completely air-tight and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below.

I've had enough with narrow mouth carboys. I will never again spend over an hour trying (and failing) to clean krausen residue off the shoulder of a narrow carboy!

Seems to be best fermentor for the money - seals better than buckets, spicket for hydrometer testing, wide mouth lid you can drill hole in and get hand inside to clean, and it's clear so you can watch the fermentation happen (never gets old)

Jim L on Jan 22, 2018
I like these fermenters a lot. They are not expensive, and 7 gallons gives plenty of headspace for a 5 gallon batch, The wide mouth is great for cleaning and dry hopping and the screw on lid makes a good seal. My only complaint is the hole for the airlock doesn't seem always especially round; I have to really jam the stopper in it to get a good seal there.

Has anyone had to use a blow off tube and if so what OD?
Michael Cundiff on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Michael,
I've had this fermenter for over a year fermenting 5.5 and 6 gal batches. With aggressive yeast I'll attach a blow off tube. Simply insert a 1/2 OD tube into the size #10 stopper that is a recommended purchase from Morebeer. It creates an airtight fi!
What size tubing will fit the spigot?
Ray Pirc on Jul 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Small, like 1/4 ID if you stretch it, 3/8-5/16 fits easily

I put the spicket on over 10 imes or so and it's still leaking not sure how I can trust it with wort in it every time I use it.
Everything I have tried cannot fix this thing from leaking. I can't be cleaning up my Wort all day everyday for 3 weeks. I'll change this rating if I can ever figure out how to get it to stop leaking but the regular fermonster I rate a 4.

Hello Vince - Which side of the FerMonster do you have the gasket on?

Useless unless you have chicken arms
While the idea seems great, the porting requires that one be able to insert their arm into the fermenter to secure the spigot. Being a 7 gallon one makes it even worse as the reach is longer. The opening at the top is simply too small. I could only get my arm in to a point just below the elbow, nowhere near enough to reach.

So far so good, except the hole in the lid isn't round and I had to order buon vino stoppers in order to get it to seal. Not impressed with the QC on that.

Oversized o ring/seal problems
The rubber o ring seal is too large for the cover and would not seat properly. In the process of installing the cover with an oversized o ring, the seal was cross-threaded and may have contaminated my batch of brew. Searching for a new o ring to fit and hoping my brew is salvageable.

Very satisfied.
Although its made of plastic, its very sturdy. No more glass carboys for me! Read about lid getting hard to unscrew. A little soap on the threads and its fine.

Changed my brew-life.
Man these things are SWEET. Being in my 40s, i try to find ways to save my back during brewday and these have def done that. It also precludes the need for a siphon. Carrying 2 empty carboys with one hand made me giggle like a child with a new puppy. And cleaning them was amazing. I simply used a hose and my hand to wipe off the trub. Even if i have to replace them every cpl years (which i dont expect) ... worth it!

Simple elegant design
I started with this fermenter a year ago. I loved it but thought a cool stainless Anvil one would be better. It's not. These are easy to clean using normal soap and a sponge, they're obviously transparent to see how things are doing, and low cost. Sealing the lid takes some finesse and unscrewing the lid when done can be a challenge. Especially with dried on wort. Track is to invert it and get the gasket wet, then unscrew.

I have 5 of these.

O-ring/gasket is a bad fit.
Excellent experience purchasing through MoreBeer. Fast and easy. I bought one of these two months ago for a test run. After 2 batches I liked it so much that I bought 4 more.
Pros... I like the smooth sides, and the larger 7gal volume.
Cons... The o-ring is pretty pesky to get right so they should only be used for primary. The opening could be a little bigger. I’m somewhat muscled and can barely get my arm in deep enough to install and remove the spigot.
