The Ported Fermonster is a brand new fermenter designed specifically for fermentation. MoreBeer! gave product feedback for over 2 years of development and we think they nailed the design. The large lid allows for easy filling and makes hop or oak additions a breeze. The smooth sides are fantastic for sanitization - no ribs or texture to collect yeast or bacteria.  The large 7 gallon size was designed to provide ample space for fermentation and you'll find the molded in volume markers super handy for accurate filling. The punted bottom allows sediment to collect to the sides so that you can siphon liquid from the center.  Because they are made from vigin PET plastic they nearly unbreakable and a lot safer than similar glass carboys. Also notice the conical top which reduces surface area if you plan to store beer or wine long term.

These ported versions come with our plastic spigot (FE347), allowing for easy racking and sampling!

Made from heavy PET plastic, the same material used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration.  Due to the thicknes of the material and the overall geometry the Fermonster does not require ribs or dimples for stability.  That results in a super smooth interior surface that reduces yeast and sediment buildup making it the easiest to clean, most sanitary PET carboy on the market.  The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside.  The 7 gallon volume is a monster of a fermenter, reducing blowoff issues seen with standard 5 and 6 gallon carboys. Fermonsters are easily moved by hand or consider using our Carboy Carrier for even greater ease of use.

These fermentors are completely air-tight and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below.

Seems to be best fermentor for the money - seals better than buckets, spicket for hydrometer testing, wide mouth lid you can drill hole in and get hand inside to clean, and it's clear so you can watch the fermentation happen (never gets old)

We have a number of these. They work GREAT!
Jim L on Jan 22, 2018
I like these fermenters a lot. They are not expensive, and 7 gallons gives plenty of headspace for a 5 gallon batch, The wide mouth is great for cleaning and dry hopping and the screw on lid makes a good seal. My only complaint is the hole for the airlock doesn't seem always especially round; I have to really jam the stopper in it to get a good seal there.

Want to make 6 gallon batches to completely fill my keg and then bottle what is left.
Justin R D on Jan 17, 2018
Beer & hands are at risk whenever a glass carboy breaks. After breaking two in six years, I'm giving these a try & hope that they don't scratch too quickly.
Douglas I on Jan 15, 2018
Easy of use for dry hopping, I hope.

Has anyone had to use a blow off tube and if so what OD?
Michael Cundiff on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Michael,
I've had this fermenter for over a year fermenting 5.5 and 6 gal batches. With aggressive yeast I'll attach a blow off tube. Simply insert a 1/2 OD tube into the size #10 stopper that is a recommended purchase from Morebeer. It creates an airtight fi!

MoreBeer is awesome
Second version of the fermonster I’ve bought. Works great, I’m excited to leave siphoning behind. I mainly just wanted to praise MoreBeer’s customer service. They mistakenly sent me a 5 gallon small mouth fermenter instead of this model and when I called up about it they sent me out the fermonster right away and told me I could keep the 5 gallon. Highly recommend buying from MoreBeer. With that customer service they made me a loyal customer for life.

Solid Basic Fermenter
The 7 gallon Fermonster is a sold 5 stars. My main gripe is my own "fault" in that I have giant forearms and therefore my arm does not reach all the way in there. I had to enlist the help of others to get the spigot installed.

The reason I knocked off a star is because the spigot is just too long. It extends below the bottom of the vessel. This means if you are boiling wort outside and want to transfer by having the Fermonster on the ground and kettle higher up, you have to put something under the Fermonster or risk having a leak.

Great fermenter
The spigot is a great addition to a fermenter, allowing you to do closed transfers without any hassle. Clean up is incredibly easy, and being able to watch your fermentation progress is also a big plus. The only negative I found is that the o-ring is pretty much useless. However, it works perfectly well without it.

Great Fermonster
I love the ability to turn a valve and transfer my beer directly to a keg. Price, ease of use and ease of cleaning makes now makes this my go to fermenter.

I only gave it 4 stars b/c the walls are a little thin and the opening could be an inch or so larger. My forearm just fits in the top to clean.

Flimsy but functional
Surpriseingly thin, light, and flimsy. But easy to clean and haul around. Had it full of wine and felt like carrying a bag of juice. Spigot feels like it’s going to break the carboy when turned. Yet I’m pleased to have bought it. Great for fermentation and as a bottling bucket.
