Vinegar taste?
I followed the directions using the bottling kit but came up with a soda that is slightly sweet with a vinegar aftertaste.

I did not skip any steps in the instructions and used exact amount of water. Should I have used Star-San with my new bottles and also brought the soda to a boil? I hate to give anything 1 star, but would hate for anyone to have the same experience.

It was good...just not really rootbeer
My family enjoyed this as a sweet holiday soda, but the flavor is not like the rootbeer we were expecting. It has flavors of sugar cookies and gingerbread, but lacks any bite. We much prefered the Gnome brand rootbeer over this. It's good for what it is...just be aware.

Tasty!
I originally made this for my mom as she is a big root beer fan. But, after it was done, I actually became a fan as well. Kinda spicy flavor! Makes a fantastic root beer float. If you naturally carbonate, I found it carbonated perfect in only one day. Make sure you pick up a new bucket and dedicate it to root beer as it seems to linger in the bucket a bit.

Good over all Root Beer
Root beer is good but we found that if you use 50% of the recommended water is best.

Also found that if you mix this with the Vanilla Cream extract it really makes a good soda
