What should the estimated final gravity be for the Plump Wheel Amber all grain kit?
Mario D on Jan 14, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Hey Mario. The specs show an estimated OG range of 1.050 to 1.056 and an estimated ABV of 5.3% right?
Suppose you hit the estimated OG and your FG comes in around 1.015, your ABV will be 5.38
Is this a clone of the original recipe or the new one?
CHRISTOPHER M on Jun 23, 2024
BEST ANSWER: I believe it is the original, but not certain. It has been a great beer and I will make it again.
How long is the fermentation time for this beer? Should I rack to a secondary for clarification after the fermentation ends?
Demir O on Feb 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Hi Damir. I fermented at 68. I have brewed this 10 times now. Took 6 days each time. I went straight to a secondary and crashed cooled immediately each time. That clears it up beautifully. If you don't have the equipped to crash it, a secondary at fermentation temp will work as well.
Does this kit come with specialty grains?
Zachary R W on Oct 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The all grain kit included 6lbs. of 2-Row, 4lbs of Munich Malt, 1lb of Crystal 75L:, and 0.5lb of Victory Malt.

Very good beer!
Brewed this for a friend who loves Fat Tire. He was very pleased. Very very similar taste to the commercial beer. Beer style dead on.

great beer. added extra Victory malt and taste even better
Have brewed this kit several times. It always seemed to be lacking a bit. So last brew, I added a extra 1/2 lb of Victory malt for a total of 1 lb of victory. Mashed at 55 F for 1 hour. Followed the regular schedule. Fermented at 67 degrees. No secondary fermentation. Kegged and let sit for a week after force carbonating for 2 days. Beer came out great. Lots of malt flavor but not a sweet malty beer.

Early review on Plump Tire
I did the all grain brew using the Grainfather brew system Fermented at 67 degrees for 15 days. I used SO-5 Dry Yeast and rehydrated it. I also as usual, oxygenated the wort. Took a sample while kegging and so far impressed. It tasted very good and that is without any carbonation yet. I usually can tell when I keg from the sample if the beer is a very good one. I only have two taps and this one will be my backup 3rd. keg when one of the other ones goes dry. I didn't detect any off flavors in the sample. With a few weeks in the keg I believe this will also be a winner. Thanks John W
