Description

Use in conjunction with an Enolmatic filler to filter wine inline as you are bottling. Saves time by eliminating a separate step and allows you to filter without using a pump or exposing your wine to oxygen. This filter unit is placed inline between the product and the filler itself.

Filters are available in 5, 1 and .5 micron ratings. The filter cartridges used with this housing can be cleaned and re-sanitized for future useage. Wash by running PBW (CL25) followed by a hot then a cold rinse. Re-sanitize immediately after washing and then again just prior to the next use with SaniClean (CL27).

Works very well with Enolmatic Bottler

We do our final filtering at bottling with this tandem filter. Works well for small 50 gal or less runs.

Works Just Fine

I been using the filter for the last three years and had no problems. Does a nice job and I've had no problems in sealing the unit. You do need to spend a fair amount of time completely cleaning the filter and then letting it dry before storing it.

Tandem Filter

I agree with Mark M.
Except I could not get the filter to seal properly. Ever.
Air enters through the lid cap, plus the bypass unit.
I reduced it significantly after much mucking around, but could not eliminate.

Very expensive

Nothing against More-Wine but I am not very impressed with the tandem filtering system. The Enolmatic vacuum filler works great but the tandem filter system that is sold with it is problematic. I have been using the system for three years and have had to replace 4 complete filter housing kits at a cost of approximately $180/ea and 8 filter housing lids at a cost of about $70/ea. Because the parts are imported from Italy, they sell for about 6-8 times what they are really worth.

The problem comes in when you tighten the lids onto the canister. Too lose and air bubbles get sucked in and it doesn't filter correctly. Tighten them too tight and you risk cracking the very fragile lids and/or the canister itself. When it works, it works great. Be prepared to shell out an extra $200-$400 a year to keep this system running.

I read somewhere a standard water filtering system can do the same thing as long as you get the same filtering specs (.5 micron for fine, 1.0 micron for medium, and 5.0 micron for coarse (red wines). The Enolmatic instructions say that you must use special filters used for vacuum filtration (i.e., their Tandem system). However, I fail to understand the difference in filtering if liquid is being pulled through the filter one way or pushed through the filter the other way. Because of all the problems, I may switch to a different filtering system to connect to my Enolmatic filler.
