Ekuanot® is one of the newest hop varietals released and has been received with much acclaim. Released in 2014, Ekuanot® (formally Equinox and HBC 366) has surged in popularity and growing acreage.  The ridiculously high oil content (2.5-4 ml/100g!) and desirable aromatics have lead breweries of all sizes to flock to this hop. Great for all beer styles but definitely featured in IPAs and other hop forward beers. Ekuanot® is described as having aromas of melon, berry, orange peel, lime, papaya, pine and fresh peppers.  Try it in your next batch and see what flavors you find!

Lots of Green Pepper Flavor
Made a single hop IPA with this one. It's interesting. It's not bad. It's like an IPA with no citrus, no fruit, but instead with fresh green peppers.

Single Hop Brew
I'm using the Ekuanot hops in a single-hop-brew IPA. I'll let you know in a few weeks...??

Interesting and different
These mixed with El Dorado and HBC438 really hit some tropical notes, but added some unexpected woody tones. Prior to this batch I had dry hopped El-D + HBC438 to get fresh blueberry + pineapple aromas. This recent brew took that and added a touch of the Eukanot (1oz Euk + 2 ElD + 2 HBC438 - all dry hops) and accentuated different flavors entirely. Tropics were still there but the Eukanot added orange and brought out the cedar of the HBC438. Very interesting, but could be off putting in NEIPA if not handled correctly - definitely suited for a WC-IPA or dank piney thing.
