Description

If you want an easy way to balance your beer lines, this is the way to do it. One of the benefits of Flow Control disconnects is you don't need to rely on the small ID or line length to apply flow resistance. Rather than adjusting your line length or size, simply apply additional restriction directly on the Quick Disconnect (QD). This is perfect for people who want to serve a large range of beverages with differing carbonation levels without having to customize each line. Now with the added benefit of Duotight fittings built in.

Please be aware that even in the fully open position these FC disconnects do have some inherent flow resistance so you should use either shorter line or larger ID line that you would when compared with traditional ball lock disconnects.

Flow Control QD vs. Flow Control Faucet
One of the only drawbacks of flow control devices is that they inherently create a small amount of turbulence and therefore can cause foaming. In the past, flow control faucets have been the only common option. Flow control faucets are very popular but due to the fact that they are placed at the very end of the beer line they have no head pressure. As a result, any turbulence created can cause foaming and carbonation to come out of solution.

Flow control ball lock disconnects like these on the other hand have the ability to restrict the flow before the beer enters the beer line so the head pressure created by the beer line keeps the carbonation in solution. Even in the instance that high turbulence is created the beer will be far more resistant to foaming issues. For this reason, flow control ball lock disconnects like these have significantly better performance allowing you the flexibility to adjust line resistance easily but without the introduction of turbulence that creates foaming. It cannot fix over-carbonated beer, but it can reduce the amount of beer line you would need to pour without excessive foaming.

Duotight Ball Lock QDs
The humble plastic ball lock disconnect has been around a long time and is used by countless homebrewers around the world.  Despite the extensive use they have seen little to no innovation for decades and KegLand wanted to change this. Enter the Duotight Ball Lock QD. The integrated Duotight design means you can connect your beer and gas line directly, easily and reliably with no need for additional fittings or clamps. It is a robust and super compact design that is incredibly easy to assemble and disassemble, making cleaning and sanitizing an absolute breeze!

Made from highly chemical resistant materials with stainless springs and ball bearings (no cheap ABS plastics here) this baby is extremely resistant to commonly used chemicals such as phosphoric based sanitizers and caustics. The incredibly small form factor allows for easy stacking of kegs. The new cap design ensures a pressure seal with just hand tightening and it can be completely taken apart for cleaning with no tools required.

Duotight Push-to-Connect
These Duotight ball lock disconnects already have the Duotight fitting built into the ball lock disconnect. No need for additional threaded fittings. Simply push the beer/gas line in and you are done!

Compact
The world's most compact ball lock disconnect ever manufactured. This new compact form factor is great for tight spaces or fridges where you want to pack as many kegs in as possible. This is one of the only ball lock disconnects that allows standard ball lock kegs to be double stacked while still connected to beer and gas lines.

Overmolded Poppet
The overmolded poppet design means you can couple and disconnect this ball lock QD under extreme pressures of up to 150 psi (higher than most kegs working pressure) and will never have issues with the o-ring blowing out.

Tool-less Disassembly
Other ball lock disconnects require a tool such as a flat head screw driver or spanner to take them apart for cleaning. The new caps on these allow for easy disassembly by hand, making these easier to break down for cleaning. It's literally never been easier to remove hop particles from your ball lock disconnects.

Extreme Chemical Resistance
No cheap ABS plastic or nitrile seals. This ball lock disconnect is made from stainless spring and ball bearings, with an engineering polyketone resin body, EPDM and PP/EPDM overmolded poppet. This makes the quick disconnect resistant to extreme chemicals such as phosphoric and acetic acid, caustic soda, peroxide and many other acid or base chemicals which are commonly used in homebrewing.

Toughness
This ball lock disconnect is more robust than any other plastic ball lock disconnect ever manufactured due to the use of new engineering plastics. Don't be fooled by the small form factor — these bad boys are tough!

Features:

  • Ball Lock Quick Disconnect - Bev Out
  • Adjustable flow rate
  • Direct connect 8 mm EVABarrier tubing
  • Compact design won't interfere with keg stacking
  • Made from highly chemical resistant materials
  • Dissamble by hand for quick and easy cleaning

Looking to reduce beer line length
Matthew V on Feb 21, 2023
Eliminates the need for a long hose when dispensing from a keg which is great for a portable keg situation where you want to take as few extra items as possible.

The description indicates "you should use either shorter line or larger ID line that you would when compared with traditional ball lock disconnects." Any recommendations regarding specific length of line and ID combinations?
Jeffrey H on Aug 24, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry. I see where you read that. Although the line ID is fixed, personally I will just decrease the line length to the shortest i can. To me, that's the advantage of those disconnects.
Where does the black o-ring go exactly when reassembling these?
Ryan S on Jun 16, 2024
Can this completely shut off flow? I want to use it as a liquid shut off on the Nukatap Counter pressure bottle filler instead of a valve when filling directly from a keg.
Jonathan H on Mar 1, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can shut off flow completely but I doubt it would be as quick as a regular valve -- mine are kind of hard to turn. I paired it with my CP filler and was very happy with the results. I was able to run a shorter line between the keg and filler than previously. Cheers!
Does clockwise on the flow control knob decrease the flow or increase it?
David L on Jan 9, 2023
BEST ANSWER: clockwise closes the valve, decreases the flow. I turned mine all the way open, counter clockwise, and put a mark on the dial with a sharpie so I can keep track of how far it is closed to get the best pour.

doidn't work for me
I also initially had a leak at the point where tube enters; be careful to be sure its seated, and don't torque against keg handles during adjustment. A friend recommended this -- must work for some people -- but didn't work for me. I can restrict the flow to trickle, and it just trickles out foam. With pressure set correctly, I get a 'Prague pour', all foam

Pin pressure and can't push 8mm tubing in. Beer leaks out where the tubing goes in because I can't slide it in like I can with the duotight fittings
Can't get the 8mm evabarrier tubing to push in passed the rubber gasket also unsure if it has enough pin pressure. at 20psi I'm getting 18 seconds to pour a pint. That's wayyyyy slow for 18psi at 5 feet of tubing

not enough pin pressure
The spring doesn't put enough pressure on the post pin to release liquid under 15 psi 1 bar.

Very Good Product
I have had very good fortune using these to give me line balancing while keeping the lines short. I used to use expensive flow control faucets, but I think these are a better alternative.

Extremely hard to seat the 8mm EVA tubing.
I don't know if I got a bad batch, I purchased four of these along with five sets of 8MM EVA tubing, four duotight gas QDs, four 8MM fittings, and four inline regulators. I was able to seat the tubing in every other item but these with ease. The gas QDs did take a bit more pressure to seat, but these flow control QDs, required the use of pliers to hold the tubing while I twisted and turned the QD to get the tubing to seat fully. Once seated, I haven't noticed any leaks in the only one I've connected to a keg.

Great!
These are great for bottling for the tap. No reason to change the
gas pressure, just create a slow pour and bottle away.
