Like many thermometers that were built for cooking and food processing, we find this digital oven thermometer to be just as useful for brewing applications. The cable allows you to place the temperature probe where needed and view the temperature reading from a convenient location. Especially helpful if your mash tun or hot liquor tank sit high up on a tiered gravity system. It also has a programmable alarm for when you hit your temp and a timer function you can use to track your mash progress or boil additions.

Please note: the cable attached to the probe is not waterproof so be careful to not let it be fully submerged. If this does occur and your readings are off, you can place the probe in the oven (leaving the plug outside) and bake for 1 hour at 375°F to boil the moisture out of the probe.

  • Broad temperature operating range 0-250°C (32–482°F)
  • Temperature display resolution 1 degree C
  • Timer range 99 min 59 sec
  • Timer alarm function
  • High temperature alarm function
  • Celsius and Fahrenheit display option
  • Battery operated 1xAAA

Will be useful but no power switch....
The instructions aren't very long, its a pretty simple thermometer, three buttons, but I was expecting there to be some way to turn it off besides removing the battery.

The alarm function will make this really useful for heating mash water, I'm just annoyed that I can't turn it off when I'm done without taking it apart...
