This Copper Pot Still features male garden hose quick disconnects. Our connection kit includes female quick disconnects and tubing for the coolant inlet and outlet. The Copper Pot Still is also available with barbed connections.

If you want to make whiskeys and gins, this pot still top is a great way to start! The classic "V" shape captures the vital esters, aldehydes, and phenolic compounds that are necessary for the complex spirits such as whiskeys and gins.

This is only the still top and does not come with a boiler. This is only the still top and does not come with a boiler. Combine with a distillation lid to use a BrewZilla or DigiBoil as the base for this Alcoengine brand still top.

Can I make this fit a sanke keg if I got a tri-clover flange. What is the pipe thread?
Tim Spangler on Jan 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You can attach this to the top of a sanke keg by using a 2" triclamp gasket. The bulkhead is sized to fit a 47mm hole.
What size are the Pipe threads (MNPT)???
Robert S on Jan 26, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I removed mine and replaced with 1/4” compression to npt and 1/4 hose barbs.
Can I use this as a steam condenser on my Gen 4 for indoor beer brewing?
Christopher L on Dec 18, 2022
BEST ANSWER: This set-up will fit a digiboil or brewzilla electric kettle system combined with a distillation lid or copper alembic distillation dome it can be used to separate alcohol, oil, and water depending on the boiling property of each. Steam rising into this will be cooled by the encased water jacket inside the head and the resulting distillate will drip from the tube. I use a high temp silicon hose attached to the end with a wire clamp to direct the flow. However, if the water jacket surrounding the head did not have cold water running through it then only vapor would escape.
Can I use quick disconnects like the ones I use on my cornies?
Dillon C on Mar 5, 2021
BEST ANSWER: You have to buy the connection kit to use the ones that come attached on the unit. It is frustrating if they are out of stock since they are sold separately. The fittings are specialized and no manufacturer stamp to find the matching part. No the ball lock quick disconnects like on a corny keg DO NOT FIT. Standard quick disconnects for air lines or pressure washers DID NOT FIT EITHER. I looked all over and could not find a quick disconnect that would fit with what came on the unit. So I cut it off and attached entirely new quick disconnects. Would be better if these just came with a hose barb. Or if the connection kit was included with the still top. The plastic quick disconnects look cheap and I hear they leak so might be best to just plan on attaching higher quality fittings.

Leaks
It leaks where the coil goes in. I'm going to have to seal it up to use it. As much as it cost it should be plug and play.

Fittings are BSP
This is a highly efficient condenser. Water flow needed was barely a trickle.
The British pipe thread and the odd compression fittings inhibits my ability to standardize all of my connections.
I wish the still allowed for pressurization so that a thump keg could be utilized.

Great product
Ran my first batch with this to work out the kinks. Worked great with the Digiboil (35L), not a sponsor. My old setup would take about 3-4 hours on the stove pot still. This setup took 2.5 hours start to finish. Finished whiskey was just at 40% with a mash at 14%, a little low. Like I said great product.

The Digiboil on old pot still, it’s difficult to see and adjust the temperature.
Digiboil temp 206 at 1000W has best distillation flow.
H2O temp around 44*

Very easy to use!
Really easy to use, just plug and play. I used two hours or so, incl heating up the Brewzilla, to get 4,6 liters of 60% liquor. But used a lot tap water for cooling.

Works, but I have questions!!
Well, it honestly works fine overall, BUT there is a thick residue on all the copper after we use it. I’m honestly not sure after spending hours and hours on this if it’s even safe to drink.
First try.

Response from MoreFlavor
What color is the residue on the copper and is it on the inside or both the inside and the outside? If the residue is blue then it comes from sulphur compounds from the wash reacting with the copper. Usually this binds pretty well to the copper and won't taint your spirit. The other very common residue comes from foaming inside the kettle, just like a hot break when you boil beer, rice, or pasta. Some more description of the symptoms could help us give some more specific advice.

If you have a blue residue, the best way to get rid of it is to wash the copper in a solution of hot water and citric acid. The blue stuff is a copper sulfate salt that will dissolve easily in hot water and the citric acid will make your copper shiny and red again.

Well built
Nice still, but customer support will not answer my questions. There are small openings around the cooling coils that could allow alcohol vapor to escape if cooling is insufficient. This is on an electric heater, but still a flammable gas potential safety concern.
