Description

These are now available for pre-order! We'll be receiving the rhizomes and fulfilling orders as soon as they're available, which should be in early-mid April.

15.0-17.0% AA. Grows well in dry, hot climates. Vigorous but susceptible to mildew diseases.

Columbus is a high-alpha hop that provides a neutral bitterness and an excellent aroma. The flavor and aroma are very pungent, so it is often used for late-addition hopping or dry-hopping. Great in IPA's. Flavor is slightly floral with some citrus notes. Also goes by the names Tomahawk, Zeus, and CTZ.

Rhizomes should be planted immediately for best results. If your area is still experiencing frost then you can plant them in a planter indoors until it is safe to transplant outside. The first years crop will generally be smaller than subsequent years. Since these are live plants, we cannot guarantee they will grow, so we recommend buying two of each type to help ensure their success.

Since the rhizomes are presale items, we ask that you do not place other items on your rhizome presale order.  Any additional items placed on rhizome presale orders will be split into their own order, and subject to additional shipping fees.

Shipping Restrictions:

Due to agricultural restrictions, we can only ship rhizomes to addresses that are in the United States, excepting Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and the counties of Bonner and Kootenai in Idaho. Unfortunately, we cannot ship these to international locations including APO/FPO addresses.

Prebook Item: Please note this item is not currently in stock, but is available for Pre-Order. We do require payment in full in order to reserve stock.

Cascade & Columbus Hops
I bought a half dozen rizomes a couple of years ago and I thought that , most likely, they would not grow in our hot texas climate. I planted them on the North side of the house and by the middle of March they were 1 1/2 feet tall. I am planning to move West in a few years and I'll be ordering 2 or 3 dozen to easily grow in an even better climate.

2nd year strong
These monsters are now in their second year and growing strong. The first year, I had enough for late addition adds that complimented a great blonde ale. Now, the second year should be enough for a Fresh SMaSH beer!

Hoppy Customer!
I ordered 5 rhizomes, all different varieties. The first one to sprout took about a week and a half, and the last one took over a month. All of the plants are doing great! It's been about two months and some of them are already 2 feet tall!!!! I give them each a good watering each night, and I swear I can see them grow about a inch everyday! They are beautiful, and I can't wait to harvest them. I love coming home to them! It is very exciting. Great buy!

Growing well!
I ordered 1 Columbus rhizome in early April. I received the package quickly and it was healthy and budding. I planted within a week and it has already put up 3 healthy shoots within the first week. I live in USDA zone 6b. Couldn't be happier!

Quality Rhizome
I planted two of these recently and they are both doing well. I planted mine quickly after they arrived. I would recommend buying these if you want to grow your own hops.

First time growing hops
Grew last year in a pot. Gree very nice smelling cones. Didn't actually brew with them last year. Plants survived winter and have popped back up this year.

It grew!!
It grew, but I'm not sure I have the right climate for these hops (Florida panhandle), but I loved the thought of using my own, homegrown hops!

Though small, dry, and poorly packaged - growing
I ordered 4 types of hops - 2 of them, the cascade being one of the varieties, is growing despite the poor condition it arrived in.
