Chunky Pumps are Professional wine making pumps assembled by hand in our metal shop featuring variable speed flow control and Tri-Clamp style connections.

The Brain
All Chunky Pumps feature the very latest AC Tech brand Vector-Style frequency drives in water tight Nema 4x housings. The frequency drive is what allows you to regulate the motor speed, and therefor flow rates, without harming the motor.

Remote Control
Chunky Pumps can be controlled via our unique remote control. Because we build this ourselves, and then directly sell them, there is no other pump on the market that comes close in value. We are also pump specialists so our customer support of these pumps is second to none.

Chunky Pump
What a workhorse! We have used this pump for 2 years. It is used to transfer wines from tank to tank and for filtration. So far we have had zero issues and it is has probably pumped several thousand gallons.
My only issue is I wish it had another switch instead of just a plugin. The way it is now, you plug it into the wall socket (220) and you sometimes see arcing. It would be nice to plug it in, then turn on a switch to energize the unit.
Other than that, you will be hard pressed to find a more versatile pump than this for the money.

Good pump for small wineries
We use this for barreling and bottling, and its done well for us, with excellent support from MoreFlavor team in Concord.

A few things we learned along the way:

You need to lubricate the impellers with silicon/CIP film after cleaning to avoid them tearing when starting up the pump. (even a short dry run to prime is hard on impeller, especially if you reverse it on start up. Using one direction is best for impeller life)

You will want to have snap ring pliers and spare impleller, seals and retaining ring to allow you to service the pump wet end, it never fails when the hardware store is open... :)

Dropping the control box can shear the potentiometer and loosen internal wires, treat it with more care than the rugged enclosure would indicate.

Definitely recommended and quite a workhorse, just needs a bit of care to get the best performance.
