Great results
1 lb used in an American Amber Ale. The instructions say to add during peak fermentation... I am anal about contamination and I wanted an accurate gravity reading so I contacted the manufacture and they suggested adding at flame out... Done! 3 weeks in fermentation and then into the keg.

Several people have tasted it so for and all "really like" the beer. Most people said they got s subtle smokey and minor spicy character. If you want more "heat" consider adding two.

Awesome
Added two to an ale for the last 20 min. of the boil and it's incredible. All of my friends think its' perfect. Do-over!

Lots of flavor, no heat
I used this candi sryup in a 5 gallon batch of German Pilsner and the sweet/smoky aroma and flavor carried through very nicely but it did not provide any heat. The manufacturer was *tremendously* helpful with suggestions on adjusting heat and even providing a few sample recipes. To add some heat to the beer I boiled some red pepper flakes in a cup of water for about 10 minutes then added it 1/4 tsp at a time to a pint of beer. When I found the right ratio, I upscaled it to the entire keg. The beer turned out great!

I was pleasantly surprised at how little color contribution this syrup provided to the final beer. It looks like a dark candi syrup but really kept the color of my pilsner right where it needed to be.
