Centennial | Pellet Hops

    Description

Centennial hops are a balanced bittering and aromatic hop with a decidedly American nature and uniquely pungent flavor.  An intense citrus aroma with pronounced lemon notes also gives off some floral qualities that blend well with West Coast IPAs, American Pale Ales, and other hop-forward styles. Centennial hops are sometimes referenced as a super charged Cascade without the grapefruit flavors. Centennial hops also blend well with Chinook and Columbus hops.

        Great hops

Used in a Bell’s 2 Hearted Ale clone. It came out perfect. I keg hopped with 3.5 oz of this and over the month the keg lasted, no off flavors.

One of my favorite hops, but dominates all other flavors in the beer.

So fresh and excellent citrus hit!

Can't go wrong with Centennial. Great to add at end of boil and/or hopstand. Awesome to pair with Cascade or Citra or try some other experiments! I like using a clean bittering hop instead of something like Centennial as it seems a bit of a waste to lose that great aroma and flavor.

Amazingly vibrant citrus hop aroma and very fresh batch.

Used in a Bells Two Hearted Clone and found the hops to have an amazingly vibrant citrus hop aroma and seems to be very fresh batch.

        Classic Hops

Got these on sale, which lowered my expectations a bit. But I was pleasantly surprised how fresh these hops smelled and tasted. Hot packaging coupled with careful handling for the win!

        Pleasant flavor

I have ordered these rhizomes, and I wanted to learn more about this hop. It has a great flavor, but very German in taste and aroma if used incorrectly. I used this initially in an IPA I made in the hopes of duplicating the flavor of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale, but I did not get it right. I then combined it with a dry-hop of 1 ounce of Mosaic hop pellets and a quarter-ounce of Citra hop pellets, and the result is simply delicious! Waiting for it to carbonate, as we speak!

        Alpha not as advertised

The specs show the Alpha acid as 9.5-11.5% but the package shows 7.9%

        Excellent aroma and dry hop

This is my favorite hop. Mixes well with amarillo and cascade. The fruity character come through perfectly when used as a dry hop. Got a few rhizomes and their growing well. Cant wait to use as wet hop in the fall.

        Another great hop

This is the only hop in Bell's IPA! What a great hop this is. It's not totally pungent like CTZ, but it adds great character to a West Coast Hoppy beer. Good choice.

What is the Alpha Acid content of these Hops? I have purchased these in the past that turned out to have very low content.

        Year of crop?

        MoreBeer!

According to information I found online 2017 was the last harvest of Helga by HPA as it was retired. So this is obviously not a fresh crop if the information is correct. Question is even at this great price is it still worth brewing with it and not knowing how old it is?

        MoreBeer!

Generally we are unable to provide a crop year for any of our hops packages since it does change so frequently. We are currently working on better systems to communicate with you all about what year of hops are in each package. It may be the case that the same hops sold in different size packages could have come from different crop years or different bundles from the farms. Hopefully we will be able to better communicate this important information soon.
