The Catalyst represents the future of fermentation simplicity.  Easy to clean, transferless, this is a time-saving piece of equipment which you'll be surprised by the value of.  Boasting a rich set of features, the Catalyst Fermentation System was designed for homebrewers, while keeping true to many pro brewing principles.  Not only will the Catalyst Fermentation System save you time and energy, it will improve the quality of your beer!

The 45° Conical Fermentation Tank is made of a BPA free Medical Grade material, Tritan, which can withstand dishwasher cleaning and is incredibly resistant to scratches or other damage.  The entire vessel is designed to withstand boiling temperatures, so wort can be transferred straight from your kettle to fermenter without cooling if necessary. 

Thanks to the integrated dump valve, trub can be dumped, allowing for primary and secondary fermentations to take place in the same vessel.  This reduces transfers and touches, not only reducing oxygenation of your beer, but also reducing the chance of contamination.  Once fermentation is complete, you can bottle from the same system using the included tubing adapter for the dump valve.

Conical design forces yeast & trub down to the integrated harvester, reducing contact with your beer and improving flavor.  Yeast harvesting is accomplished using the integrated oversized 3" Butterfly Dump Valve & commonly available mason jars. 

When fermentation is complete, cleaning is even easier.  The Tritan material used for the conical resists buildup, and since the entire lid lifts off, cleaning the conical is as simple as a quick rinse & wipe down.

Is it possible to move the fermenter and stand when full? Is the stand to flimsy to move while fermenter is full?

BEST ANSWER: As long as you are strong enough to pick up the fermenter you can. The stand is pretty durable in my opinion.
what is the outside diameter of the lid including lock tabs (Closed position)?

BEST ANSWER: The lid itself is 14". The lid with the locking tabs in the locked position is 14 11/16".
I was told plans were in the works to add a stainless coil (similar to item FE863) for pumping glycol in order to use this item independent of a temp controlled fridge. Is this still in the works?

First batch fermenting, so far so good but some issues
My first conical. Seemed to be the best one out there that I could find. Some things that could be improved:
- need an extra half gallon of space at the top so that it doesn't overflow when fermenting. tubbing to a bottle filled with liquid is not a good solution.
- purchased the tank cover it makes it a bit hard to keep the conical level
- the cone that attaches to the bottom of the valve (for bottle filling) and the supplied tubing is a smaller diameter than bottle filler wands. a real setback. The little click stopper they supply (instead of using a bottle filler) is not a good fix. gonna have to do some jerry rigging to make it work, not what I wanted.
All in all i like it and only using for the first time but would purchase again.

Butterfly valve is leaking
Bought this about 3 month ago. Fermented one beer and it did great. This weekend I dumped 3 gallons of hot water and Star San sanitizer to prep for brew day. The butterfly valve started leaking. Upon inspection the valve is separating at the seam. I’ve contacted Craft a Brew and More Beer and still waiting to hear back from either of them.

Easy to use system
It was really easy to put together and clean. I had a batch of cider going soon after arrival. The only complaint is that when I did the leak test, I found that the butterfly valve didn't completely close. Since I wanted to get brewing right away, I was able to "reverse" the handle so that the valve closes completely. Other than that minor inconvenience, I've been really happy with the system!

Catalyst fermentation system
Started my first brew in the fermenter today, first impressions are that this is a good vessel to ferment your beer in. The butterfly valve seems to be a very good design, opens and closes positively. i love the mason jar feature for dumping trub and saving yeast. The triton plastic used on the container seems to be pretty bomb proof, much better than the plastics used on other fermenters. It also appears to be very easy to clean. My only concern would be the latches that hold the lid in place, they are a plastic hinge and only time will tell if they hold up, other than that I give it a big thumbs up
