Carbonation and Line Cleaning Ball Lock Quick Disconnect (QD) Cap - Stainless

    Description

This stainless steel ball lock cap features soda bottle threads, allowing you to convert a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle into a convenient travel growler. The ball lock is compatible with both gas and beverage disconnects, so you can charge the PET bottle before you leave the house and dispense on the go. Attach 3/16" or 1/4" ID tubing to the barb to serve as your dip tube and you're all set!

These caps also work great for quickly and conveniently cleaning your draft lines. Mix up a small batch of line cleaning solution in a soda bottle, attach the ball lock cap, and then connect it to your beverage line. Place a bucket below your tap to catch the cleaning solution and open your faucet. Then simply turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it to push solution through your line and out the faucet. You can also choose to pressurize the bottle first, but squeezing the solution through is just as effective.

Fermenting with the FermZilla? This is the same ball lock fitting included with the FermZilla Pressure Kit and it's also compatible with the FermZilla Collection Container. If you use the collection container to add dry hops, attach one of these caps and you'll be able purge the container of oxygen before opening the dump valve to introduce the hops. Attach some tubing and diffusion stone and you can oxygenate your wort through the collection container as well!

    Features:

    • Liquid and Gas Ball Lock Compatible
    • Disassembles for Easy Cleaning
    • Made from Stainless Steel
    • 28mm PCO 1881 Threads

Please note: The threaded section of the bottleneck must be at least 1/2" long to form a seal. These caps are not compatible with the KegLand 500mL PET Bottles.

        Good product

I like how these look on the kegerator and they prevent any air loss out of the two tubing portals in the back of the kegerator. They allow for a quick disconnect to the two way manifold. Bought a few parts to make a quick connection to the kegs on the inside.

        Nifty and durable

I use this to clean keg lines and to make seltzer water. About 2 years in, no issues or concern. I've probably made a hundred 2L bottles of seltzer, so it has easily paid for itself several times over. I've only ever used it with (grey) gas connectors, the (black) liquid connectors didn't seem to fit. If you are considering it, I highly recommend it.

        Good cheap cleaning option

This is awesome for cleaning tap lines. Just fill a empty 2L up with beer line cleaner, screw this on top and push it through the line. Perfect

        used for a beer gun

I used this to make a QD for a beer gun set up. I just attached a piece of hose from the gun to this and connected the coupler from the CO2 line. Works great.

        Easiest line flushing

I fill an old (clean) soda bottle with cleaner/starsan/RO water and screw this on the top. Attached bev line QD, open tap, squeeze bottle. Easy peasy. Also works with gas QD so you can carb your favorite concoction in a soda bottle too.

Does what I need it to do

First thing you notice, this is a hefty part. Does an excellent job fitting on and sealing 2 litre bottles. I was able to swage the end of a 5mm ID EVA tube to fit on the barbed fitting. In the pic below, I don't have the cap on tight (allows the gas to escape) and I'm using the 2 litre as a blow-off container into StarSan. I have an empty 2 litre with a Cap on, and this allows me to harvest CO2, which will be used when I cold crash, so only CO2 gets sucked in.

        I love this.

If you just going to your boys house to chill why take a glass growler that can break and it’s hard to flush the co2 out of and that you can’t counter pressure fill. These things are super cool and a great option for traveling with home-brew. I took a few old soda bottles camping with me filled with my home-brew. Keeping a Glass growler in the ice chest is sketchy when that same ice chest is full of all your camping food and drinkS for the family. I clean my soda 2-liters with pbw then rinse and fill with star San I then dump the star San and hit the bottles with co2 and I slowly twist off these attachment until I hear the co2 hiss out. I do that a couple times to purge o2. After that I connect the liquid and do the same slow twisting off of this attachment to counter pressure fill the soda bottles. This allows me to use cheap soda bottles and flush o2 and counter pressure fill. I also like to steal a 2-liter early on in cold crashing to sample my newly fermented beer. I have a kegmenter so I can steal from it easily. I put the 2-liter under 30 psi and shake it to carbonate the sample of my new cold crashing beer. Also the post of these work great with either gas or liquid ball lock disconnects. I keep my 2-liters out of the sun so I avoid skunking of my beer too. Cheers.

Must have for plastic bottling and pressure transferring from carboys

Probably one of the best purchases I've made. Counter-pressure filling and carbonating soda type bottles, closed transferring out of carboys by placing it in the carboy cap small barb with a clamp (use caution with pressure and glass), and more.

Can you attach a carbonation stone (e.g. KEG590) if you remove the barb?

        MoreBeer!

No the cap’s internal fitting is not a flare. Get a stone with a barb and connect with tubing… or get a barb with a flare fitting and attach to the one you pictured.

I want to use this for a gas line quick connect on the back of the Komos V2 kegerator. What do I need to get to convert the quick disconnect to accept the gas line? I know what I need for the barbed side.

        MoreBeer!

The fridge includes a Duotight fitting for the gas line to attach to the regulator so the simplest thing to do (and what I'm doing) would be a gas ball lock with its own Duotight fitting--Morebeer's item number is DUO150. Screw the included fitting onto the regulator cut a length of the EVABarrier line push one end into the fitting on the regulator push the other end into that ball-lock and you're set. The other option would be to use the included hose barb. Screw that onto the regulator instead of the Duotight fitting and then it'd be regular hose and ball lock.

        MoreBeer!

Just purchase a ball lock gas line quick disconnect. They have barbed or MFL threads to hook up to the gas line regulator.
